Never been to a sunset display… I guess we shall have to toddle over too. If that is ok?

The great thing about warbirds is that you don’t have to be a pilot or mechanic to be in the club.
Very well said…
Kittyhawk, If you want to enjoy the warbirds and lose that chip then go and help a cause that is short of money.
Are you saying that Ellie has loads of money just sitting around for her B17, that Russ spent all that time on Black 6 when he could have gone out and paid someone to sort it all out.
We all love warbirds and share them as a club. I for one am just grateful that these people have the genorosity to share these aircraft with us. As you said they could crash them. Maybe ruin a national treasure. So what do you suggest?
They are these peoples personal property, maybe they should lock them in a hangar never to see the light of day or the public see them. You really are narrow minded if you think this is the best way.
That some individuals have enough money to preserve these aircraft and then the good will to show them for our pleasure if a gift that we should be grateful to have. If they ask for some help financially through airshows we should show we are grateful for there commitment by buying tickets and by supporting them.
The saying goes ‘ how do you make a small fortune in aviation’
‘Start with a large one!’
Its true believe me.
I find doing three landing on one circuit is a better use of your time and money anyway 😀
My first landing in a Tiger Moth was with a Thunderbolt very close behind me. Does tend to focus you!

I know the feeling mate. I often open my mouth and put my foot in it on here, it happens because there are so many people who subscribe to this forum with far more knowledge/reference material available than we have access to( that’s my excuse anyway) 🙂
I shall side with that excuse too 🙂 I should know as we are flying this week…. oh well, thanks for putting me straight 🙂
Ohhhhhhhhh !!
Well look at that, Mr Slowly is wrong again 😀
Hard runway to match the grass 😀
Hope it gets done as soon as possible… no jets all year. I will go mad 😀
I gather holes just popped up all over it after it rained. Don’t think resurfacing is ever very cheap…especially as they were out there for ages 🙁
When are they starting again, as when the hard runway is closed the grass one is as well. Counted as one runway by our friends at the CAA.
Poor runway and it looked so pretty for two days
Think you will find the film is back on now…maybe ish…rumours oh I love them!!!!
It is on as far as I know though.
Great pictures and a lovely paint job… I guess John didn’t do it, can’t see any grit in it 😀
There has been talk of this on the old rumour network for some time.
The runway has always been a touch on the short side for the Hunter in the wet, Mark used to like popping that chute open early until a lorry driver took it for a drive up the M11 after catching it.
I don’t think they should ever get rid of the banking, it is always reassuring, the L39 went round this after it went through the field. (any other time the undercarriage would have collapsed wouldnt it 🙁 ) Still time will tell, a little extra runway is always good.
Not really a problem with a Cub or a Tiger though 😀

Still, if they can’t fit the correct cowlings on their recent total restoration of the Anson 1, I don’t suppose there’s much chance of that happening.
Be fair that Anson has had those cowlings from service much the same as it has wooden wongs but metal tail. It has just been chopped in service it would be wrong to change these things back now!!!
Jetstreams gonna be up there for a long time yet.
Japanese used to put explosives ballons in it you know…
🙂
😀 😀
Thanks for that. It is still a Seafire flying so I am not going to quibble over a paint shade. I was just interested.
