Wow..this birdie looks great!!:)

You like the camo?I think its kinda funny like the chinese ones lol.Why did they have to display it anyway?
The nicest pictures are that of the IJT.But when are we going to see the 3rd one ?Any timeline for that?
IN wants 9 amphib a/c for..””inter-island ferry for personnel and cargo, long-range search and rescue missions, visual and radar surveillance of coastal areas and island territories,”
Bombardier and Bereiv to get RFPs probably.
But Bombardier 415 and Be 200 are fire fighting aircraft right?
What aircraft types do Beriev currently produce??
of course matt, I’m ahead of you in engineering because I aced my history exam and you didn’t. that means I fulfilled my goals and you didn’t, and this degree in history automatically makes me a better engineer than you are.
Well this isnt exactly the difference between history and engineering.
Rehersals ? 😀
This is the last display by the SKAT…
Was such a fine team..the next one will be formed by the IJT I think?
and strangely enough I am bored of seeing “clean” MKIs flying…
India might have a broader spectrum considering all the fields and the potential but in case of aircrafts (military and civil) Saab is way ahead of HAL/ADA and then some.
Two typhoons of Aeronautica Militare has landed at Yelahanka for Aero India .
pics..
Hehheh..:D
If the Indians are shrewd they’ll seduce SAAB to come aboard the AMCA as a 50/50 funding and development partner in return for selecting the Gripen for the MMRCA.
A company with the status of SAAB will in turn attract other partner countries and defence companies, there is a ready market for an affordable F-35 class fighter and I don’t see why an alternative international consortium couldn’t deliver an equally capable rival.
IIrc, the Indian Navy is an official development partner for the AMCA, so the F-35B/C may be a fallback option.
Indians dont need to be shrewd , they need to be realistic.Thinking about it for a while and I think that in no possible way should HAL opt to try to develop AMCA alone. They will require a lot of help to make it fruitful.Otherwise it can again lead to a ‘saga” of shifting timelines and unnecessary friction with the airforce. Now whether saab is the right answer , or maybe embraer or any other , that has to be decided after judging what each of them are good at or is in a position to offer. The requirement of those participating countries will also have to be taken into account eg. what the respective airforces are thinking about 5th gen a/c , the minimum number of airframes reqd to make the venture profitable for them etc , though numbers should not be much of a problem because the IAF would want atleast 200 of these birds ideally.SO its basically going to be profitable.
There was some news iirc about HAL looking for industrial partners but i have to check.Maybe a proactive offer from any party would be helpful 😉
Its not about what they got its what “India can Get” if they opt to partner up with any nation or weapons supplier in the development phase of the weapons system. Most countries that are in the developing phase of the JSF are either strong allies , need the F-35 and some production work associated with it or are looking to partner with the US for weapons system development programs. My statement wasnt meant to say that india “lost out” on the JSF which means that its been a bad descision on their part not to think about joining as a partner , but because the JSF is in its current Phase of development and testing india has lost out on that option which would maybe have been more tempting as compared to buying the JSF currently .
I get your point and agree with you.But my point is that , as you said that joining the development would have been more tempting compared to buying ,but this benefit would have been only financial not technological. If India were a partner and if the JSF program had gone to schedule , the entire mmrca competitiion could have been scrapped and that money could have been used for the JSF program instead.
However, conversely , by not joining the JSF program , except for the financial aspect , India did not lose anything else.India is better served technologically by working with the Russians for the FGFA or any 3rd party like SaaB for its AMCA development because these partners are more amenable to technology sharing and codevelopment rather than any US co.
I’m not sure India’s contribution to their future PAK-FA version amounts to much more than monthly wire transfers. They can’t even get that Tejas online, and that’s 30 years old technology.
FYI , HAL is responsible for airframe modification to two seater , Mission computers and software , nav system , cockpit displays and CMDS.In addition to this , is the integration of various third party systems which are yet to be decided.
And re Tejas , maybe it would have been a bit easier if the US didnt try to screw us at every possible opportunity.
We’ll get to see the second LCH prototype soon..
Broadsword also had a picture of LCH TD 2.Hopefully this is an older pix otherwise I dont see how it will fly in Aero India which is starting next wednesday.

^^ Thats quite good news hopefully the IA orders Nishant in more numbers and stop importing similar types from Israel or elsewhere.
They need to develop Nishant with tricycle and naval version.
Good news. But I doubt Nishant will be able to fill the shoes of UAV like Heron which is MALE.Nishant is more or less a tactical UAV lacking the range , endurance , ceiling and payload of a Heron. So its less suitable for the navy too.The best use for Nishant will be like artillery spotting or tactical battlefield use.
………………………………. Nishant …………………… Heron……………………….Searcher II
Range…………………………160 km………………………….350 km…………………………………300 km
Endurance……………………..4 hrs………………………….40+ hrs………………………………….20 hr
Payload………………………..45 kg…………………………250 kg……………………………………..120 kg
Ceiling………………………….11,000ft ……………………..30,000 ft…………………………………23000 ft
Speed…………………………125 kmph ………………………..207 kmph………………………………198 kmph(?)
Given the current scheme of things (the aircraft in the IAF inventory , and planned induction) it would appear waistful to procure the JSF having lost out on the option on co-developing it as a partner nation at its inception and realizing the technological and industry benefits .
I am curious to know what sort of technological benefits did Italy , Netherlands , Turkey , Canada , Australia , Denmark and Norway get?
Nishant has completed confirmatory trials with the army. And the army is very happy.
Performance of payload sensors are better than the imported UAVs says the army, meaning the Searcher and the Heron.IA has ordered 12 of these initially.
