The RDI is a very capable radar and the MKI rcs is large compared to the M2K.Still the Bars operating in training mode got the first look of the M2K.That ought to tell something about the Bars radar..;)
no there’s three. one big bottom one, two side ones. the two side ones are on a different plane.
this design incorporates a true S-duct unlike the Pak-Fa. rest of the design looks strange. huge canopy. projected radar looks mechanically scanned.
Seems like a two seater design.
The two side bays are on the outer sides of the two ducts.Seen here.

quadbike, MiG-27 is not indigenous.
The worst point is that Hindustan-Fighter X is very close to Fighter-China 1. At least can’t there be a differentiator on this count ?
Dont worry about a name/designation….once it cuts in the air , it will make a name for itself!
btw…the design looks good…in line with the wind tunnel model shown earlier in Aero India..
Not at all, but a smaller explosive is desireable, a tad less then a hellfire, and avaliable 24/7, which can realisticly only be acheved by an ever loitering UAV.
Munitions could always change according to needs..an aircraft is more versatile in that way because it can carry more variety. And all the battles will NOT be against Al Qaeda and Taliban. As for 24X7 availability, that criteria in times of war is desirable for every type of aircraft ..not only CAS aircraft.
Nothing is ever totally outdated, it changes shape.
soldiers are still carrying body armor, use knives, are trained in close combat…
The machine gun in fighters was declared outdated 50 years ago, missiles would do everything…
as long as soldiers operate in a hostile environment they will need and deserve all the protection they can get
Exactly..;)
UAVs can never replace manned aircrafts…
You’re right, no terrorist organisation would risk the backlash of popular outrage if they attacked the World Cup.
If anything like hijackings happen, (god forbid) then the England team will be safe…Because before they know it, they’ll be back home moaning that they’ve been kicked out & thinking up an excuse or someone to blame as of why they played so cr*p. 😀
Yeah may be the Man U ones…:p
Numbers of units is going down, instead of 50 T-55 to take out with that gun,
there is 4 T-90/ goat herders..
Nothing will beat UAV in loiter/persistance in any case.
Are you saying CAS is obsolete?
Everyone is proposing super sleek jets, how about something a little more rugged like the A-10?
Imagine the likes of a new build A-10 only with bigger (more modern) engines, suppress the infrared radiation of the engines, switch the single GAU-8 cannon to twin GAU-22/25mm in the nose, a GAU-19/.50-cal tail stinger for the rear seater AND anti-missile defense, give it both DAS and EOTS for maximum situational awareness, WCMD (current A-10 already has it), make it a twin seater, and twin DIRCOM to stave of MANPADS. Something like this with a standoff SFW dispenser may be a little overkill.
Offer a second model with a retractable, steerable 30mm chain gun in the belly that replaces the twin GAU-22. The steerable chain gun aimed by a computer should be able to get awfully close to 1 meter CEP.
Yep!As an A 10 fan I have always wanted a next gen. A 10.
“We are planning to procure four carrier-based AEW&C aircraft to carry out airborne surveillance, detection and tracking of airborne and surface contacts and control air interceptions and air strikes,” Navy officials told PTI here.
What are the options?
Naval PAKFA?
IL 112 based carrier borne awacs with Elta/LRDE radar
Mig 29 K based dedicated electronic warfare aircraft ala EA 18G

IAF contingent of 6 MKIs , 3 IL -78s and 1 IL – 76 fly off to Istres for exercise with the AdlA and RSAF.
Nice bunch of pics there c/o Shiv Aroor.
Rafales are officially scheduled to fly.Hopefully the French wont disappoint;)….and we get detailed accounts..
1st pix of INS Arihant c/o Shiv Aroor…
Looks like taken by a cell phone camera?

Not sure .. but I think only 10 remain.9 underwent LUSH upgrade of which 1 has crashed.
So the Sea Eagle is still a part of the Indian inventory? What other munitions are carried? Standard British dumb bombs and SNEB rocket pods I assume?…or do IN SHAR pilots not train for a conventional air-to-ground role?
SHars do carry Matra pods and dumb bombs.
As far as the Sea Eagle is concerned there has been many a talk of replacing those but they still remain in service with SHars , Sea Kings and maritime Jags.If I recall correctly there were some news regarding purchase of test batch of 20 – 24 harpoons. Most probably they are for the Jags and SeaKings and I dont think they are going to fit it into the SHars because they are going to be retired in a few years.
IN SHar pilots have to separately qualify for both land based and carrier based ops.
