Yes..with the WSI Dhruv almost done.they could be very useful in the Russia’s war against muslims..which is predominantly in high altitude areas.IIRC some Russian troops trained at the high altitude warfare school (HAWS) in India before operations in Chechnya..

that is at best average, at worst failed.

Especially not one that is itself made up of foreign parts…..

:D:D what was that aircraft which at best failed and made “wholly” of chinese parts?

    Gawd what rubbish!

Did anyone notice how the F-18 had its AESA On and still didn’t detect the F-22? I’m really starting to believe that if your aircraft doesn’t have a sensor fused IRST or some means of passive detections. the F-22,T-50, and F-35 will eat you for lunch in future engagements. Eat you for lunch like a Subway 5 dollar foot long.

I dont think we should read too much into it.They were not looking for it.They were just returning from the sortie and were not scanning the right sectors.

    Some very nice pictures c/o R S Chauhan…
The pod seems like a Remora alright..
Interesting payload configuration on th two mirages…Two missiles on the starboard side and the pod on the other…What sort of role the Mirages have got with that configuration is the thing to wonder…
    Another one..

    Trident

Hardly anyone who actually ordered C-17s use them for transporting tanks.

Even within India it would be more efficient to just use the extensive rail network.

Rail network is not extensive in the NE.Air is always faster than rail.Hauling tanks are just a part of the equation.

India rolls out indigenous naval combat plane
    6 Jul 2010, 1300 hrs IST,IANS

BANGALORE: India’s first indigenously built naval Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) rolled out here Tuesday. The first flight is scheduled by year-end and the plane will be inducted in 2015.

The plane was brought out of the hangar at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Bangalore with Defence Minister A.K. Antony witnessing an “important milestone”, a defence ministry official said.

The two-seat naval trainer (NP-1) will now undergo extensive systems integration tests, ground runs and taxi trials before its first flight later this year.

Another variant of the aircraft, NP-2, a single-seat fighter, will roll out next year. The LCA is crucial to the Indian Navy’s plan to deploy two carrier battle groups (CBGs) by 2015.

The government had sanctioned the LCA (Navy) programme in 2003 and the first stage of development included design and fabrication of the trainer and the fighter along with a Shore Based Test Facility (SBTF) at Goa naval air base, which has already started.

The test facility is being used to simulate carrier take off and arrested landing and as a training facility for future pilots of the naval LCA.

unofficial word around..Rafales were used as decoys to lure a/c from their targets..were detected and tracked..but they were quick and exited the “arena” before anyone (MKI and F16 ) could pounce on them..

The size of those weapons bays looks too small to realistically fit in those missiles. A long-range AAM like R-77 or ALCMs like Kh-31 would not fit into those bays, at least not in feasible numbers.

Its difficult to say without dimensions. On the other hand the pixes show it carrying 4 R 77 type missiles in the central bay.And definitely it would be ridiculous to design an aircraft which cant take an R 77 .Even the Astra is 3.57 m which is almost he same as an R 77 at 3.6 m.So I dont know from where you got that idea. Why would it have to carry the Kh 31?There are plenty of MKIs for that!

The side bays though looks like that it can carry only short range AAMs.

Both the RDI & RDY per what Arthuro noted. The French have 37 Mirage 2000-5F, with the RDY (Mirage 2000 5 Mk2 eg for current upgrades/ variant sold to UAE, have the RDY-2). I dont know whether the French RDY radars are upgraded to this standard?

I meant the RDY .The French were flying the 5F at the exercise having the RDY from 102 Storks.I dont think they are upgraded to the RDY -2.
