Compared to the J-10 and Su-30MKI, I could almost agree with that. The only reason the FC-1 really exists in my opinion is due to the relationship between China and India and China and Pakistan, and because Pakistan was still under an arms embargo and couldn’t get new F-16s (or even old ones). If the FC-1 is all that, Pakistan wouldn’t have needed new Block 50 F-16s…er…ok, nevermind, they have F-16 on the brain and would have bought them anyway 😀

Regardless, the real 21st Century fighter jet coming out of China is the J-10, NOT the FC-1.

Well SOC i agree to that…still it would have been better if more specs were available for the J10.

Anyways. will China induct JF17s in service?

    Heres what i originally said…

    Btw…Can the JF17 even compete with a Block 52 F16 with Amraam?

    And heres your original reply…

    U forget JF-17 can fire SD-10 ABVRAAM…

So i asked whats so special about the SD10 that you think that its better than amraam…but you didnt have any answers…Evereybody knows that the Blk52 F16 is a really good plane compared to most other planes in service now…even they performed quite well against the Su30MKIs of the IAF in Cope2006…and you who doesnt even know what radar is going into the JF17 except that its a chinese one  think that the JF17 is as good as the F16 blk 52….

    Jeez…

    What a joke!!

Except that the jokes on you mister.

    That’s a joke!

First u don even know what’s the capabilities of JF-17 radar,ECM,datalink,SD-10…. and u can make comment on it? If u talk abt engines specs,i will concede it’s inferior but…

    U can predict the future?

I think that the Blk52 F16 with western avionics and Amraam is a tough cookie to beat…but you seem to think that just because JF17 has got SD10 its a world beater!!!So tell me about the JF17 radar and its capabilities…

    Yeah…its a Joke

What so special abt F-16C/D Block 52 fitted with ABVRAAM?

Well…considering that it is the principal BVRAAM of the worlds best airforce and also many others and the latest version having 50% more range…i would think Aim120 is really good…dont you?

About the Blk52 F16…the APG68 radar is a good thing to have. What radar did they put on the JF17?

Yes, illegal airspace violation drug runners and your friends can always become your enenmy tomorrow.
I think the the sheer size of Brazil and the lack of radar coverage of remote areas of the amazon require Brazil to have a credible and responsive fighter. While Brazil at the moment has no external threat from her neighbors that could always change, their neighbor to the north is always rattling his sword. In addtion the amount of drug trafficking that goes thru Brazil requires a fighter that can loiter longer than what the M2000 or F-5BR offers, I mean a drug runner flying a Cessna 206, 208 210 or any other GA aircraft will sip a lot less gas then a range limited F-5 or M2000 (unless you have dedicated tankers). Drug runners illegaly enter Brazil’s airspace frequently that in itself is a violation of Brazil’s soverignty as a nation requires a military response. The 12 M2000 leased to Brazil cannot cover the defense of the capital and the nation, just not enough of them to cover this large country. I don’t know the loiter time of a SU-30/35 but I would suspect it is alot longer than a Gripen of M2000 or Rafael. There is my two cents….

So Brazil needs the Rafale to fight drug runners with Cessnas?

    OK OK just kidding…. 😀
    Thanks for the info.

I notice IAF also have Mirage 2000 and there is possibility JF-17 may meet Mirage 2000. how it fair there? it may be hard for Magic AAM and Super 530D to fight SD-10

Except that IAF Mirages will soon be upgraded when they will be made compatible to fire the Mica.

    Btw…Can the JF17 even compete with a Block 52 F16 with Amraam?

US aims for $6.5b deal, hardsells F-16, F/A-18

    By TOI
    Published: November 18, 2006

With the defence ministry finally getting ready to jump-start the $6.5-billion deal to procure 126 multi-role combat aircraft, the Bush administration has put its full weight behind the American companies in the race to bag this “mother of all defence deals. The US, in fact, used the Indo-US Defence Procurement and Production Group (DPPG) and Defence Policy Group (DPG) meetings here this week to hardsell the F/A-18 Super Hornets and F-16 Falcons, manufactured by Boeing and Lockheed Martin respectively. American officials told their Indian counterparts that the contract would be a major step towards boosting defence industrial cooperation between the two countries. India could even become an Asian hub for production and maintenance of American origin fighters being operated in the region. The contract, after all, envisages off the shelf purchase of only around two dozen fighters out of the 126, with the rest being produced in India under transfer of technology. But the F/A-18 and F-16 will have to contend with the Russian MiG-35, French Rafale, Swedish JAS-39 Gripen and Eurofighter Typhoon jets in the race. “The request for proposal for the 126 fighters is almost ready,” said an Indian official.

It’s a disgrace. The French and the Americans would never stoop to such trickery to gain orders, surely?

When its that kind of money…u never know..
