    UAC Promo

These videos are so, so bad. So bad I can’t watch them to the end. I hope Putin sends some FSB types to visit the makers of these videos and ruins their day as much as they have ruined mine.

    PAKFA PROMO! (Video):o: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IW-IopgmVx0&feature=share&list=UUx0U4oa1EOYhnujzL8Vvz8g&index=1

If I was in UAC’s shoes I would sue the makers of that terrible video – or at least try to get my money back… at the very least I would take it down from the net and get the FSB to pay a visit to everybody who watched it to erase their memories.

I’ve got to say, I love the fact that the Croatian AF is hanging on to its ’21s. And they look great in those monochrome markings too.

let them go and buy their wares from Russia. The U.S. would be best to keep its annual 1.5B in aid.

    The article says:

Egypt is considering spending up to $4 billion on advanced weaponry from Russia […] a Palestinian online newspaper said Thursday.

I’m considering not holding my breath for this…

Sorry to shamelessly plug another thread here but I figured you Russian AF experts might have something to contribute here:

    Hi Ink,
The annual report from Sokol (2012) has a few details about the syrian order, especially the comments under the article seems to indicate most of the work on the syrian MiG-29M2 (or rather, work on the subasemblies) is done or in advanced stages for most of the first 12 aircraft (not clear if the syrian contract was for 12 or 24).

It has been widely rumoured that the airframes destined for Serbia will come from those originally intended for the now cancelled Syrian order – I just wondered whether the fact that these MiGs had “found a home” would affect RuAF procurement. Somehow that seems a little bizarre… though, now that I think of it, not too out of keeping with the established RuAF tendency* to take up failed foreign orders (see: Algeria’s SMTs).

    * admittedly a bit rich calling it a tendency, but there you go.

Quite bummed to hear about the MiG-35 delay, would that mean that all those under construction at MiG have already found a home?

Hey mack8, sorry, I’m a bit out of the loop, how many are under construction already? Could this have anything to do with the proposed/announced sale of six airframes to Serbia?

Reports in the Guardian suggest the 18 sailors could still be alive but trapped in the semi-submerged sub.

Even with the Ka-65, there would be the need for a clearance about couple of meters on top of tje rotor head.

There is no turnaround when it comes to practical hangar size, the more when it comes about ceiling height.

Adding the need to overhead rails for cranes and so on, I bet it’s not practical to have anything short of 7 or 8 meters height.

Isn’t it conceivable, at least, to have a carrier hangar that is divided up into two sections of differing heights; a storage section and a maintenance section?

this is the ONLY “in flight” COLOR pic I could find of an Albanese jet !! but of a really poor quality

I honestly thought I would prove you wrong with a quick google images search in Albanian but it seems colour images of flying Albanian Air Force jets are few and far between. I guess they didn’t go in for military aviation photography much in the People’s Republic and I doubt the jets saw much air time after 1992.

Can I propose that this completely pointless, off-topic discussion is moved to another thread? I already regret the minutes I lost bothering to read it.

Also, it would be great to have some more news about Russian aviation involvement in the exercises that are actually the subject of this thread.

If true, then that is just crazy.

    Mi-35M’s, T-90’s, Msta-S’, Neva, BMP-3M’s, TOS-1A’s are just some latest buys.

Not fun reading if you’re from Armenia.
