It’s in a layby just North of Great Yarmouth this morning if it’s coded AL-D.
Heading towards Coltishall…..;)
Bodge tape round the doors is normally a tempoary weather seal ….
No sign of any dismantling, except for the engines. That looks more like storage, even if it is pending spares recovery – who’s got the F700 ?
OK – call me silly, but as you are not intending to fly her ( yet…… 😉 ) would it be worth fitting the ‘wingnut’ style Dzeus – you’d not round those off again in a hurry.
Wouldn’t look quite as nice, but…..
Even jets……
Standard rigging on a Jaguar’s rudder was 8mm to stbd 🙂
The last time I saw a Shack fly, it was taking off over my head whilst I was jogging down the beach at Lossie in 86.
Sadly, I think the odds of either happening again are about the same.
Changing tack somewhat, I was involved with the late Wallace Cubitt in the 90’s whilst he had the Hunter T7 XL595 at Coltishall, in which he later died. I’m sure I recall he had some kind of connection with the Paphos aircraft, and he was multi piston rated. Was there ever a plan to bring one back ?
Was certainly raised at 07:30 last time I did it – a real pain at that time of day, right in the middle of the morning rush. Drop the barriers, build up a nice queue of traffic waiting to get in, and take the duty SNCO out of the MGR at the buisiest time !
Found a dead lizard in a live Jaguar during maintenance ! 🙂
I meant ask for the Pt No / specs.
Blagging some fuses would not be as easy ( to think, a year or two ago I had access to loads ! )
A polite letter to 1 S of TT Cosford may get a suitable response – they do still teach on them.
Now, if it were an airframe question………………..:)
Will it be at………………?:diablo:
If you hang around aircraft long enough, someone you know, often personally, will die.
In wartime, maybe not that long.
I did not know this pilot. He died doing the job he was trained for.
Whilst the loss of life is always tragic, I personally have no problem with the images portrayed. It was my choice to view as said previously, and in fact I looked at them and mentally compared them with the Irish bog man or the better known Ice man.
The question as to how the man’s body was treated remains that – a question.
If he has living relatives, at least they have been able to bury him now and put a line under the event.
Few more pics:
And one preserved:
Does he know anyone with oil fired heating ?
Page three, and not a mention of my precious pussy cats !
I believe the first French prototype E01 is in a museum, and certainly the second British GR prototype, XW563 is just down the road from me. This probably doesn’t meet your ‘first flyer’ criteria, but E01 certainly does !
