Yes:D
Incidentally any truth to NX611 being held in reserve for BBMF?
NX611 is privately owned and is nothing to do with the Mod I think that answers that question. Where do these rumours start:confused:
1941 is to early to have one of the one piece hoods fitted anyway the same a/c at Bicester from my collection photographer unknown.
Congratulations Fluffy, Nice to see you got the right blue as well!
The red looks suspiciously bright for wartime………
In fact comparing it with the colours that I had matched to wartime chips for LF in the background the Blue looks decidedly post 1946 “Bright Blue” as well.
🙁
Yes we agree didn’t have time this weekend they will be done later. the ocean grey ,red ,and blue have been replaced foc by the paint company as they supplied the wrong specs to what was ordered.
The same hood was fitted to Black 6 in the seventies
In the paintshop again
After Mark12s picture of TB675 and having the ocean grey checked and finding it was mixed incorrectly giving the wrong shade. Here is TE311 repainted again and this time correctly including the painted over fuselage band.
Any complaints please write to OC BBMF because I am not changing it again!!!! :diablo: AB910s repaint has been delayed 🙁 to mid March will post pictures when she is finished.
Martin Baker indeed designed the jettisonable canopies for the Spitfire. The scheme evolved by Martin employed unlocking pins actuated by cables which are operated by the pilot by pulling a small red ball mounted on the hood arch.
They also manufactured the cable cutters fitted to the Lanc
Frilly pinny on order::diablo:
It’s not a after market mod it is in the original manuals probably fitted to a/c used for training pilots. and yes it is PA474
From the Martin Baker book Engineering for Life first ejection seat was fitted to a modified Defiant and the first dummy ejection took place at Wittering May1945.
Lancman can we have our dessert trolley back it’s not been the same on the Lanc since it went missing:D
From AB;s log so must be right she also had clipped wings. Also from another log book engine and prop stll fitted in 1946 and the airframe had done 855 flying hours.
AB was fitted with a Merlin 55 and a four blade prop for ops in 1944 so not the wrong prop.
