One of my choices for the new PA474 scheme, this was turned down when the boss realised Lou was my wife’s name:( , the other was Grogs the Shot a 100sqn a/c. No guess on the piccy yet where are all the Lanc experts :diablo:

Here’s a question for the BBMF folk that’s come via my missus- did the MOD/RAF etc have to clear the use of Mickey Mouse on the Lanc’s last nose art with Disney?!

    I don’t believe we did .

I know its a bit early to start talking about another restoration as you have a good 2 years to go on this project fluffy, but will you and the bbmf guys be looking at another project after this one is complete? i’m sure that i read in one of the mags that the bbmf were looking to acquire another spit of a mark that isn’t represented yet once this project is finished.

Anyway loving the scheme, and well done thus far, its really starting to look the ********!

Who knows there is a Spit at Cottesmore:diablo:

Not much is missing we were thinking of putting the armour doors in that are in front of the rest bunk a couple of years ago but the aircrew weren’t happy.
Over the years we have fitted all the turret pipework, ammo tracking ,oxygen system and replaced the mid upper fairing with one to the correct shape.
£2,000 isn’t much the mould cost £3,000 to make.

Not quite true we looked into the manufacture of the blister but it was to big for the companys we went to. One company was going to make the blister from carbon fibre and then attach a perspex rear end. We had borrowed a mould from Duxford which was used to produce a fibreglass blister for their Lanc.
So if you (Peter) want a blister maybe you should try at Duxford they still might have the mould. As for the bomb aimers blister we have the mould and it costs about £2,000 minus the glass to manufacture.

The tyres are Shack tyres. Yes I know the BBMF Lanc has them fitted. That is because they fit the Lanc and there are ‘plenty’ in stock.
    camlobe

Not plenty in stock, but Dunlop have just produced a new batch of ten for us they arrived on Friday. We put 60psi in the mainwheels and the Lancs weight is about 48,000lbs with about 800gals of fuel

Seriously, a Haynes manual on the Lanc? That would be brilliant!

Out summer 2008 co-authored by someone who uses this forum:D

As for the H2S blister we were stopped from having one made and fitted by BAE however they had no objection to us fitting an original one so if anybody has one fit for use let me know.

    Yes it will stay matt.

Hopefully 2009 but that depends on having everything available to finish the project.

    TE311 in 74Sqn markings

Here we are the finished article she has a matt finish, thats probably why the lines are not so visable. Anyway she looks good IMHO. All we need now is the wings back from rebuild!!!!!!!!!!!
