Sorry I have only just seen Norman Franks book, schemes already picked and Scott whilst I agree with you we have crew who would prefer not to fly the Lanc in a scheme that was shot down and crew killed but don’t you think that she still flys she remembers all those crews who didn’t return and gave their lives for this country.
Lanc repaint
New scheme will be ??????????? or ??????????? from ???Sqn and will be applied 2006/7 as the Lancs major serv has been put back a year. I have all the info for both, but you will have to wait and see.
Not magnesium, mag spec nos are between 3500 and 3599.9 according to the LDV558 repair manual
Geoff
Sorry can’t help with this one I think the pt nos is R8-109.909.0205.4 I don’t believe the 205.4 is the metal spec I could not find it in the repair manual I have, this book seems to list all the materials used in 109 construction. You need to find somebody with a 109e parts manual.
Cheers Fluffy
PS can you tell Geoff the guys couldn’t visit on Friday as they were diverted to Cardiff
Geoff
Just gone thru 109f/g parts manuals number not there but there are some 109.909 nos they relate to armament bits ie canon cover parts and machine gun blast tube parts Have you a piccy I could see of said item.
It should be at Biggin Hill tonight and Cardiff tomorrow
Mark
Sorry not white 14 but yellow 14, picture I believe was taken at RAF Shawbury, note canopy has not been swapped with the one on the 109e yet.
Oops try this one plus one more also 109E at Raf Bicester 72MU
Words really do escape me, such a shock.
I heard about this at work, and realised that I still had his ‘thank you’ card from this time last year when he had visited the flight with his son.
I echo everyone’s sentiments, that he was a truly great guy and will be missed by so many.
Thoughts are with his family.
