    RE: Comet to Concorde.

We have it in Canada, however, at over $12 CAD to purchase (before tax) I refuse to buy it. I’m sorry but for $12 I had better get a complimentary beverage and bag of peanuts! Shame Key Publishing!

    RE: Leaving

Although I wasn’t on the “old forum” very long I did prefer it. Couldn’t access the forum all day yesterday as my password wasn’t being accepted. I thought perhaps it was closed down early for 9/11.

Hope to chat with you again soon andrewm.

RE: Blow it!Whats Your Favourite Airline Logo?

BTW, excellent site for logos is http://www.aerosite.net/airline.

My favourite is probably Aer Lingus and the Shamrock. The green is pretty unique, followed by Qantas, Singapore, Malaysia and British Airways. Makes me look a bit of a fan of the One World I alliance, hmmm.

Not sure if my attachment worked.

    RE: Engine failure

    Hi,

Sorry, my password hasn’t been working. I should clarify somewhat my earlier reply. I should have said the prop (possibly the device mentioned afterwards in response) guides the aircraft a bit in its glide, it doesn’t actually “push”, obviously that would be impossible with a jet aircraft.

Sorry for the inaccuarate word useage.

    Regards,

    Stephen

RE: Bombardier Sells CRJ700 Aircraft to Shandong Airlines of China

Sort of related to this story (Bombardier)

The company is in a great deal of trouble (financially) now with the potential bankruptcy of United and its subsidiaries, as they have massive orders with the company for CRJs. The president and ceo recently held a news conference outlining a somewhat modest short term outlook for the company. This is the first time Bombardier has made such an announcement (outside of lay offs surrounding Sept.11–though I believe no aircraft orders were cancelled then, just delayed).

Hey, no LAX is at sea level, however, Denver is at a very high altitude. I agree though, probably fake.

    RE: Engine failure

We had that very scenario in Canada last year when an Air Transat 330 ran out of fuel in one engine, and then in the other over the Atlantic enroute to Portugal. The aircraft COASTED to the Azores. However, in a special on television “relived” the final events, and said that a small propeller drops down from under the belly of the aircraft (between the wings) in an effort to help push the plane a little further and aid with the “coasting”. I was really surprised to hear that. The final report outlining the cause is due out later this year. However, Air Transat has to fly closer to an airport now, rather than cutting across the middle of the Atlantic. They are a charter and do it to cut down on time. I believe though by law most ETOPS aircraft must fly within two hours of an airport for these very reasons of some sort of engine malfunction, or emergency situation.

I think I retold that situation correctly??

    New Colour Schemes

The link with the new colour schemes is fantastic! Air India (thank goodness someone thought of updating their look) is brilliant, very eye catching, and Swiss Airways is very inspired. I also like JAL and Alitalia (a very tired and dated looking companies–in my opinion). Although Canada 3000 is no longer around, their image was in dire need of updating, and this would have given them a professional look to compete with Air Canada, escape the “charter” stigma. Wasn’t crazy about American or United though. However, the two Lufthansa’s were very modern and forward thinking. But, I would use the tail of the second with the fusalage of the first. Iberia is a step in the right direction, catches the unique Spanish taste for life.

Very cool indeed, thanks for posting.
