Well, please go on your own, but don’t expect Europe to settle for a “French” standard instead of a US standard. In fact, the reason European countries can operate side by side is interoperability through a US standard because we’re to busy squabbling wrt national pride.

I don’t expect Europe to settle for a french standard, I expect them to settle for any standard they want, preferably their own. Where’s that silly idea from anyway?

Europe is in a financial mess. France is about to lose its AAA and Germany may not be very far behind.

It’s only natural for the US to take the lead in NATO ops because in military terms it’s enormous. The US have all the assets Europe lacks.

For this to work in Europe, certain countries need to drop their national pride and see what is best for the common good, but since that won’t happen we’ll have to continue rely on the US.

Please do rely on the US, I’ll keep my national pride thank you very much.

As far as I’m concerned France has no business in invading or attacking sovereign countries.

I think France should be closely allied, and cooperate with all the countries in the EU forever, but that’s that, we should not give up sovereignty about whatever to anyone, especially monetary sovereignty.

BTW bluewings, I don’t remember which DSI issue that was, but there was an interview of a high ranking french general who said that interoperability was utterly expensive, and could even become a trouble to the french armies in the future because it would make them unable to fund other very necessary stuff to keep an army that could work all by itself.

WRT NATO, as an organisation is probably the biggest terrorist group there is, with much much more terrorist acts than any other group (gladio anyone?). It’s a crying shame that we got back into this organisation.

NATO is just a tool to pursue US policies. I think we should pull from it and step away from all this “interoperability” bull$#!t that costs a lot and eats big chunks of our independance.

If they get full ToT as both vendors agreed, then they can make their MLU themselves so that shouldn’t be an issue at all. BTW they could have gone for the israeli upgrade for the Mirage 2000 if they wanted.
