If French Airforce had bought some M4000’s back in 1980’s, the plane could have sold to few customers..Otherwise not a single chance against the F-15..

Exactly my point. You really need a launch customer in order to be sure that the plane will get supported. Which is why the Armée de l’air had to order the Mirage 2000-5 in order for it to be sold to other countries.

The Rafale already has two launch customers in the Armée de l’air and the Aéronavale. It would be great if it was exported to bring some of the cost down, but other than that there’s no need for an export customer as long as Dassault remains profitable.

The Rafale M can supercruise at M 1.4 with 6 Mica Missiles
The Rafale M can supercruise (I don’t know what speed) with 4 Mica + 1 drop tank.

Rafale C being about 600 kg lighter than Rafale M should do at least as well.

I wonder what the performance may be for the Rafale B.

Printing in a brochure: “exported” may well be worth a few hundred millions

    I disagree.

The Rafale is the main fighter of the French air force for the next 40 odd years, there isn’t really a need for a launch customer as there already is a major one.

It’s completely different to for instance the Mirage 4000, which was an awesome plane but couldn’t sell because it never got a launch customer.

AASM 125 have already been tested and demonstrated a 80 km range. IIR versions, with the ability to recognise targets look like perfect a tools for DEAD work.

I wonder if spectra could recognise the emissions of a specified SAM and upload the images of the radar or any other part of that SAM system to the IIR seeker of the AASM, along with the appropriate hit angle?

Don’t have an answer to that I am afraid : )

Probably not as noisy, going by the diesel engined cars recently being produced and the technology leap in terms of noise dampening techniques (see Airbus and Embraer for instance) and of course, noise cancelling…

The idea is to use the least technology as possible though.

In my opinion one of the best platforms suited for CAS would be upgraded skyhawks, with a simple non afterburning version of the F404 or 414? to reduce cost and complexity. And it’s even carrier capable.

Fit it with modern weapons like AASM/EPWIV and Brimstone + 1 LDP and you’ve got a perfect CAS plane.

Please let go of the eurofighter pdf topic.

Most Eurofighter fanboys here agree that they take lame potshots at the Rafale, so what is there to discuss?

It seems to me that the level of the Eurofighter fan here is way above the level of the typhoon marketers, wich is at the same time bad news for the eurofighter marketing team and good news for us.

PS: I don’t mean fanboy in a pejorative light, as I consider myself a Rafale fanboy.

Perhaps the information about Lybia ?
The Rafale was the only plane to fly above the country before the massive cruise-missile strike from USA and even after, the only plane to fly without support of Growler.

Of course, I would be in the marketing team of Eurofighter Gmbh, I would try to paint a different picture.

Weren’t there also Mirage 2000s in the first french strikes?
