There are precedents from Navy planes flown from land:

Actually let’s amend it to all aspect VLO, and the F-35’s stealth materials should set the standard for ease of maintenance and durability.

So the F117 is a 5th gen aircraft?

I never heard of (from an official source, not forum folklore); however, even if true, an EF/Rafale with one EFT still has less than 2-2,5 tons less fuel than the F 35. this means that the F 35 can go in “min. AB” as much as the mentioned fighters in SC.

More fuel doesn’t necessarily translate in more range. It very much depends on fuel consumption and drag. The volume of fuel carried is meaningless if consumption & drag aren’t equal.

If they want something that is carrier capable/something that could challenge the Typhoon and the F 35, they should simply get Rafale M.

4-5 squadrons and Falklands War II can begin !!!!

Well would definately allow to easily retake the falklands if the argentinians were so inclined.

Ouais, bin je n’ai pas vu de fan de Rafale dire quoi que ce soit à propos de cet article.

Edit: oops I wrote that one in french. It means that I didn’t see any of the “Rafale club” ranting about that. Lack of spare part has hardly anything to do with the quality of a plane.

It’s not what i asked. Can a rafale fly >1 M with min. AB?

I don’t think so. The throttle between 50% and 100% is used for decoration purposes, and AB is there only to make more noise pimp my ride style.

Can a conventional fighter fly in supersonic with 8 tons of fuel and 2.5 ton of weapons in min. AB? Guess not…

I don’t know why it wouldn’t.

Rafale does M0,9 at 50% throttle with 2 2000L tanks, 6 AASM and 4+ Mica. (that’s 2,5 tons of weapons and 8700L of fuel).

I guess now we have to scratch supercruise from the list of the 5th gen requirements 🙂

Lets amend it to:

VLO stealth from the front
Internal weapon carriage.
Expensive stealth maintenance

Not really Nicolas. There are some breaks and sometime the link arn’t in the first post and not even the first page (I remember a Rafale thread started by Jackonimo without the links: a clear evidence of a conspiracy to sabotage our Rafale threads :D)

But if you want I’ll try to gather all the links tonight, just if you could stick them in your first post after…
