In case you havent noticed the USA have been massively bombing the Islamic State in Iraq for a few years now.

Just pointing out that the narrative that it was Assad who used chemical weapons against its people (without proof) and not IS is all the more ridiculous when you consider that IS has been using chemical weapons in several instances, has whatever it takes to make more.

And yet you guys conclude that it was Assad.

What is funny is that the Syrian government & Bashar El Assad are fighting the very guys that every bloody politician in any western country would say is our worst enemy, and yet we bomb Syria.

Why wouldn’t he/they (he meaning the regime)?
Their world view is very different to the West and he was saved by Russia despite everything that was being pinned on him. Russia so desperately wants its deap water port, that Assad knows they won’t turn their back on him.

Personally, what is the distinction between using fuel air explosives, barrel bombs unguided weaponry in built up areas and some chemical weapons? The distinction is not one that Syria has signed up to, and the Russians are not going to suddenly get all soppy because some chemical weapons are used every now and then.

He has every reason to think that a) he will get away with it again b)Sarin is just another weapon to use in the fight against his enemies.

Assad knows very well that a use of gas would be gold for all its western enemies to justify whatever they want to do in/against Syria. So using “just another weapon” that comes with such loaded political baggage would be ludicrous even if he was the real bloodthirsty dictator that everyone is trying to make him look like.

My gut feeling is that Trump sent out a half-arsed strike to buy himself time to run his foreign policy without being too much criticized by the establishment. He probably has to fight as many internal foes as external and the strike was maybe aimed at shutting them down for a while. They way I see it the message was internal if anything.

After all he can’t realistically it’s a false flag without implying the US has acted so many time on false flags in the past. Would be a political suicide.
