The YF22 was fugly but the F22 isn’t nearly as bad hopefully.
T50 is nice but there are some features I really don’t like, like its look from above, or its too small tails.

That’s the wrong analogy. A better analogy would be if I sent you a .jpg image that had an imbedded code, your mirroring of the image wouldn’t necessarily reproduce the imbedded code hidden in that image. Think of it as kind of an electronic water mark.
But how would you do that exactly with a radar wave?
If the ECM system is modifying the original signal, and part of that modification doesn’t include that coding, then the APG-77(79,81, etc..) will be able to filter out bogus returns.
But do you know for sure it can’t be modified with the code? Why couldn’t it?

The altered signal won’t be coded. This makes the task of picking out the correct return signifcantly easier,

not to mention that due to the rapid change in freqs, a second return of the wrong freq will also be a huge indicator.
The ECM system will stop emiting the signal almost instantly after the radar stops emting it, so the radar may just be fooled into thinking that the plane is just farther than it is if the signal takes longer to come back?

I would actually like it that Brazil managed to sell the kc390 successfully in Europe to fill the niche between A400M and CASA planes.
Maybe it could even purchase a few A400M for a high low mix if Brazil ever intended to get the capability to deploy overseas.

That’s not correct. If you send a coded noise-level signal the receiver will not know if it’s a noise or radar’s signal. However a radar that sends that coded noise-level signal knows the code and when it receives specific coded ‘noise’ it will amplify it and recognize it as a return signal.
the signal can’t be a “noise level” signal during its all path. So will it be a noise level signal at the time it reaches target (then it means you must already know the target range to emit accordingly?), which means that by the time the signal comes back to you it’s way below noise level, so how can you pick it up? Or does it mean it should reach you at around noise level? Making it higher level when it’s on the target?

The F-22 can receive Link-16 updates.
Why are they adding those capabilities to the F22? I’d think it would be more important to add AIM9X and a HMS, and conformal aesa arrays for instance, if you consider the numbers of F22, there won’t be enough numbers to do both AtoA and AtoG weapons.
Does it mean the USAF think the F35 won’t cut it in the SEAD role?

The point is that it is able to roam inside enemy airspace, using the situational awareness available through the netcentric war fighting support platforms, while enemy ground radars and SAMs are very much reducing their capability, without having to use jamming.
F-22 is an fighter for fighting in enemy airspace. As I said countless times before. To understand F-22 you need to see the what was the role of the ATF concepts back in the cold war. And then it becomes obvious why Typhoon, Rafale and F-22 were meant to work together. Typhoon is the defensive fighter meant to work hand in hand with F-22.
Nice to know that all those nice support assets are going to be capable to roam freely inside enemy territory too 😀

Never said that, and I didn’t bring the 1vs1 fight to the table, it was a rhetorical argument with wrightwing at first.
But if nobody uses their radars, I don’t see what the point of a stealth fighter is. I see it for a bomber or attack aircraft though.

Now I can understand the lack of F-22 orders, expense and unwillingness to export, but what explains the lack of Rafale orders????
Maybe the fact that DACT is only used to validate existing tactics and for training against unfamiliat tactics ( what do the D and T stand for in DACT ??), NOT determining the ultimate combat ability of an aircraft.
How about politics and bribes?
If Rafale wins in Brazil, it will also be a purely political decision. Same with the UAE to a lesser extent.
