It’s not nearly as good as conventional/catobar, but far and away better then nuffing
Exactly. As a stovl it rocks, but STOVL are useless.
Well they could easily add the link when meteor arrives; No need to put it online 10 years in advance? I dont know I just find it strange.
Nic
Well FWIW I think the F35B will be a great STOVL fighter, much much better than previous ones. Now is a STOVL plane really useful? I doubt it!
Nic
there are a french Meteor and a UK/rest of the world Meteor..
The french have a one way Mica link…(easier integration)
BUT that doesn’t reply to my question: what weapon currently use a two way link on those fighters?
Nic
Once you’ve poured billions in the project it’s pretty hard to pull out and go for something else, even if it doesn’t live up to the expectation.
They surely tried to kill the european fighter market.
Nic
OK, Under condition SAAB design refuel probe 😉
And have a female fighter? No way.
Marketing ploy comes to mind.
As long as dassault takes care of the looks :diablo:
sorry bad post
Any updates, wilhelm? Life can get busy. If you do have a chance I know it would make me excited to see it. Always considered the F.1 the best Mirage design, although I’m sure others would find that comment heresy.
A former F1/2000 pilot told me it turned like a brick.
As a fighter bomber I think it definately rocked though. In iraqi hands it was pretty impressive against Iran.
Nic
A two-way datalink could be used with other weapons, not only Meteor.
Which weapon do they use that fit a two way datalink?
Nic
I personally think your argument is BS.
I don’t see why EF and Gripen would come with a two way datalink since they won’t be able to use it until meteor is integrated for good. Even if it’s really the case, then it was pretty stupid to integrate it 5 years or so before the Meteor is operational.
Provided all this is true, it’s only a matter of improving the Rafale system with the ability do do that. If you remember well, the AESA was added to make use of Meteor, so the update could include the two way link through the RBE2 for all we know.
This argumentation about the Gripen being the only platform currently able to use the Meteor seem pretty desperate if you ask me. Everyone know that the french will use it as their primary BVR; missile and hence that it will be available for the Rafale.
Nic
So now the Rafale isn’t going to be capable of firing the Meteor….
Jeebus H Christ… those gripen fans sure sound more and more like JSF fans :p
Nic
Purchase our AC and we purchase biofuel from you? eek…
What the hell ?!? Did USN get a hold of star trek tech in WW2 ?
Star trek 😮
