Rafale Fans: Thicker skin please! When somebody makes a comment on this aircraft you don’t like let it go rather then imediately replying with an ever increasingly childish and well worn set of replys!

Typhoon Fans: Yes Typhoon is amazing but a bit of humility is required sometimes. Correcting well worn and often inaccurate arguments from the Rafale brigade always ends in a flame war…just leave it!

Your sentiments about the relative merits of the typhoon and the rafale couldn’t be more clear despite you pretending to adress the flamewar and the different poster types. Kudos 😀

Maybe I’m missing something here with the abysmal signal to noise ratio, but isn’t all we really know is that 9 additional flights were requested? Until we know the reasons for those extra flights, it’s a bit early to paint them in the tone and implication you use. “Needed”, to me in this case, carries a negative spin. We don’t know that’s the case, perhaps the Swiss wanted to evaluate something in a manner that wasn’t covered by the original syllabus.

It’s like taking a Hummer on a second test drive over rough terrain when you set out to buy a Subaru Outback; both are all wheel drive, but when you saw the Hummer you realized it had some capabilities you didn’t realize and you wanted to test them.

France left EFA on the grounds it wanted to be the leader of the whole thing controlling design and exports…. because otherwise the project would fail in the hands of the incapable xenos… now Rafale is a failure and the xenos have managed to clock up 87 exports to two nations and orders of another 72 likely at worst. Rafale, in other words, has completely failed in the industrial targets of France.

Fonk talked about increased weight for limited A-G capabilities. That means Block 5. Everyone knows that Tranche 2 jets (which have a marginal increase in weight) will have FULL A-G capabilities.

That’s tranche 2, which was beefed up to gain that full AtoG capability. Oh and I include his first comment on the subject:

No mention of any tranche, although the opinion than the Typhoon has limited ground attack capability… but it could mean many things and I don’t remeber you asking any precisions. It doesn’t necessarily relate to the so called austere capability of tranche 1, and even in tranche 2 the Typhoon has a limited capability compared to the F2 Rafale. Quite ironic that you call him a liar, and I must say I laughed when I saw him giving you a link to BAe no less to prove you wrong 😀

I did not claim ‘9 in flight technical defects’ – you really should try reading what I write, rather than what you think I might have written, based on your paranoia about people being horrid about your beloved Rafale.

As always, you’re wrong.

1) In LardAssup’s own link, it said that: “30 flights are planned”. Rafale actually flew 39. Therefore there were nine unplanned extra flights.

Gripen flew 30 flights. 30 flights are scheduled for Typhoon. Rafale needed 39. Nine extra flights.

2) The phrase “The evaluation flights are part of current flying contingents and will not lead to additional flight movements at the respective airbases.” means only that the evaluation flights (for all three candidate aircraft, not specifically for the Rafale) were not extra to the normal flights at those bases, which were reduced to compensate. It does not mean that Rafale didn’t fly any extra sorties.

Here I agree with jon lake. I wonder what lordassap is smoking, but I’d sure like to have some.
