Not need to going into cospirational teories: for political reasons (no boots on ground) coalition planes start outside Iraqi territory so they spend lot of time and fuel just to get there.
Add to this the fact that they simply have not enought information about possible targets and the filal outcome is the one you see.
Russians at the contrary start from very close to the battlelines and gets an impressive number of targets from the Syrian troops on ground so they are able to made two or three mission /plane every day.
For the rest russian Mod publish every day a report about the mission with the numbers of the air raids and the target attacked, so check for yourself.

Swerve, I believe the trip to deliver a nuclear weapon was one way….as you say divert to a friendly airfield if there was still one left!….perhaps our French members can confirm this?

While looking for range on various sites I stumbled upon the employment doctrine of the Mirage IV. It said there were 3 ways, north over baltic sea to strike St Petersburg or Moscow, south through the med to strike the southern part of Russia & direct. All were a one way ticket, and the crew was supposed to bail out over the sea or if possible over allied territory, Turkey for instance.

I don’t think the Mirage IV had the range compared to the Vulcan as per Operation Black Buck. Nor do I think the French AF have the tanker numbers to support such an ‘intercontinental’ mission!

Well France had at least 12 & up to 14 C135/KC135, but yeah I don’t know if they could pull it off.
