They were definitely committed in cooperation with the Tornado and Eurofighter programmes, yet they pulled out and went their way – after getting what they needed that is. Taking those situations into account, as well as requirements, I wouldn’t have France on-board the third time around. Twice bitten thrice shy. I’d rather stick with Germany, Italy, Spain and I would most certainly attempt to push Sweden to get involved. However, it’s requirements for the latter so I wouldn’t bank on them joining.

I sincerely hope your wish will be granted.

Ask sweden to give a few stored Gripen A as kickback for the Gripen NG deal & use them for the team.

This really is insulting to the incredibly intelligent gifted and talented Engineers who design these aircraft and weapon systems, do you honestly think people who strive to achieve the best will go against their natural mindset to do something that could ultimately cost life and limb?

    Yes

Of course the F-35 in this picture will suffer reduced range and performance compared to an F-35 with an all internal load, but relative to a 4th generation fighter the F-35 still has a far cleaner aerodynamic configuration, even though it is carrying 6 x 2,000 bombs while the Rafale is carrying 6 550lb bombs.

Bigger bombs yes, but I don’t think it will carry them nearly as far. Not even close.

Whilst there are a few Rafale representatives here I have a question:

In a hypothetical world say in 10 years time, what systems would you take from Rafale to add to systems from Typhoon in order to make a new “anglo/french” super fighter?

Tough question, and I know I am a bit obsessed with uk/france fighter cooperation but i look forward to your thoughts oh veterans of euro-canard conflict!

It would be the other way around. What system do you take from the EF to add to the Rafale for UK needs.

    Answer: the pilot.

Read it again. It says Billion. And it doesn’t say anything about including spares, support contracts, weapons, etc.

Yes billion my bad, yet I meant billions when I wrote millions. There is no chance they’ll get 100 F35 for 16 billion.

100 F35 for 16 Million USD? What state are they living in? Denial?

    1. It’s a pity that so much of the enhancement is classified without permission for public, thus we know so little about the enhancement compared to the other programs like Gripen NG, Rafale, SH.

What makes you think that every improvement to those aircrafts’ systems are actually publicised?

You should look up rouge. It is not rogue. Note the spelling. The pronunciation is also different. The only phoneme they share is the first one.

I really, really, HATE the confusion of ‘rouge’ with ‘rogue’. There is no excuse for it. My wife’s native language isn’t even Indo-European, & she grew up in a country where only the native (totally unrelated to Indo-European languages) language has any status, & as she says, the teaching of foreign languages, even English, is extremely poor – but she’s never made that mistake.

    rouge
    ruːʒ/
    noun
    1.
a red powder or cream used as a cosmetic for colouring the cheeks or lips.
“she wore patches of rouge on her cheeks”
    2.
    short for jeweller’s rouge.
    verb
    1.
    colour with rouge.
    “her brightly rouged cheeks”
    adjective

    rogue
    rəʊg/Submit
    noun
    1.
    a dishonest or unprincipled man.
“you are a rogue and an embezzler”
    synonyms: scoundrel, villain, reprobate, rascal, good-for-nothing, wretch;

French: rouge. Translation to English: red.

See? I gave you very strong hints. I offered you the chance to take them, to think about what I’d said & check it, but you chose not to. But as has been said, “The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.” You wouldn’t take the opportunity to privately check what you thought you knew: you were confident in your illusion, so I had to disillusion you publicly. What did you think I was doing? I was mocking you gently to give you the chance to escape public humiliation. All you had to do was put ‘rouge’ into Google, & you’d have found your mistake.

    Learn from this.

Rouge (or red in english) could be employed to name the communists which are precisely a bunch of “dishonest or (especially) unprincipled men.”

    So what’s your point?

I confirm from playing Falcon on my Atari ST that you better fire the AIM9-L from the rear. Front shots very rarely worked, no matter what they said.

AIM-9M works flawlessly from the front sector though, according to F16 combat pilot.
