You’re right. Your post had no point at all, simply parroting back what the article already says.
I don’t agree with you. He was stating the obvious: that noone has to be surprised about the cost of the deal.

This isn’t 2002 and $4 billion was not the flyaway cost for SK. All commerce in the world is subject to inflation, in the absence of extraneous factors.
Since then the dollar went through quite a few quantitative easings, it’s not so much that the price went up (of course it did), but the value of the USD (and EUR for that matter) is going down the drain.

I imagine that UAE has opted to buy another squadron+ of F-16 aircraft and in a few years will start looking again for aircraft to replace M2K. By that time Rafale may have some extra features/improvements that would avoid UAE needing to pay extra for those features/improvements.
At the same time the Mirage 2000 will lose some of its resale value, with more flight hours and more dated technologies comparatively.

What if we renamed the thread:
“Is stealth really that cost-effective”.

IFF FTL
Awesome video (& accent).

With this damn shameless government it’s no wonder we have at least fifty shades of grey.

2 Meteor, 4 Mica, 6 AASM, 3 tanks (2000l each)
So the outboard wing pylons are actually open now?

Just remember, it’s not always the Groundcrew’s fault. It’s just as likely to be an aircrew error as any other explanation.
It seems to me , although I may be wrong, that there usually seems to be an attempt to blame the groundcrew, regardless of any other circumstances.
Before any body has a go at me, I have experience of working with ejection seats, whilst serving in the RAF between 1977 and 1994, and have seen instances where both AIRCREW and GROUNDCREW errors have caused problems.

Well I don’t think that bravo was actually “blaming” the accident on ground crew error, but rather, as was pointed out, to the lax attitude and economies of running the team without the required ressources.

Sadly, we are like the Maya civilization: we are pushing the wrong ones down the cliff.
Very well put.

Nice article. Many things in it that I’d forgotten already.
Much as I was enjoying flying at low level, I wanted to finish my investigation of the aircraft’s handling before recovering back to Istres, so, with maximum dry power applied, a climb at 16º FPA was begun, initially to 5,000ft. This brief check in the climb profile allowed time for a dry power level acceleration from 309kt to 460kt in 35s.
This F105 shot is very nice!

Merry Christmas to all.

And Brazil won’t be able to move a finger if the US decides it shouldn’t. Nice win USA. Nice loss Brazil.

Discounting the Eurofighter altogether, cause it’s obviously a lemon, the UK would have an interest in killing the Rafale because everywhere the Rafale doesn’t sell, it makes for a potential JSF customer which would lower the price of the UK’s JSFs.
