This has already been talked about in the previous Rafale threads… idle is probably between 50-60% power setting. The pilot quotes speaks of 50% throttle, not 50% power setting.
If 60% is idle, as in the video game F16 combat pilot from DiD (:D), then 50% throttle will be 80% power setting, which is impressive in its own right.
I think lockheed doesn’t mind to make money out of developing some POS instead of producing a good product. As long as they make money… (not that it would bother bank of america either mind you).
hahaha I’m sure the F/A-XX is already on the drawing board, and the US will pull it of the hat when it becomes clear the F35 is a huge POS aimed at sucking european R&D budgets, which it did brilliantly, with some arms twisting and other blackmailing & a couple murders for good measure.
An amusing claim given that USAF plans to operate far less advanced F-15Cs and A-10s into the 2030s precisely because its intended successor aircraft is both late and too expensive, to say nothing of the Super Hornets still rolling off the assembly line for USN for the same reasons.
