From the Barnes Wallis display – his mechanism for testing the bouncing bomb theory. (Some of you may recognise this !)
Mossie Nightfighter undergoing some work.
memorial inside
Nice replica Spit outside the display.
Ok – it’s off the 609 memorial display at Elvington. (thought you’d have known that JDK !)
An impressive part of the museum.
I don’t think I can do it full justice, but here are a few photos of this part of the museum (I’ll post some of the rest of the museum under a different thread)
D’oh. Thought you might get it Snapper !
Actually I was very impressed with the display inside. I thought the photos and histories were very impressive. I liked the drawings of individual pilots, which made it feel a lot more human than some displays I’ve seen, particularly when you realise you’re looking at pictures of some guys who didn’t survive the war.
A nice touch to have the replica spitfire outside in the correct squadron markings.
I thought that it was a moving display.
Excellent photos – thanks for sharing them !
Taken on Saturday. It’s wings aren’t attached and it looks to be awaiting restoration.
Nice – makes me wish that I could get there !
Thanks for sharing these
I haven’t seen the 1:32 scale Mossie yet, but it is due out in the first half of this year – along with the 1:32 scale Big Beautiful Doll – the two I’m going to be after.
My only problem may be that I’m running out of space !
And is that a certain Mr Bader driving that moped ?
Or is it Elvis ?
Nice thought, Snapper.
Mind you, I’m getting ready for another Typhoon story to surface – 1st April is looming after all.
I totally fell for last year’s April Fool’s Typhoon ‘scoop’
One for Ashley to investigate ?
Careful Snapper, you might inspire someone might write a book about Bader’s secret role in the war.
Or have I missed something ?
All rather sad and pathetic.
I wonder how David Ellensohn would feel if a similar motion was passed in Belgium to move the grave of his grandfather ?
