Series 1 & 2 AL-31F date back to the very early pre-series and first few production Su-27s. All current Su-27s use series 3.

F-106 was pretty agile actually for its era. A bit like a higher powered Mirage III. Good instantaneus turn rate, plus internal armament. No cannon though.

The Zhuk-MA radar shown above looks to have about 750 elements at a rough guess.

Anyone want to count?

😀

“Tupolev Tu-16 ‘Badger’: Maid Of All Work” by Lieutenant Colonel Anatolii Artemyev, INTERNATIONAL AIR POWER REVIEW, Volume 9 / Summer 2003

I actually have the article in a compilation called “Tupolev’s Bombers” which is articles from WAPJ & IAPR on Tu-16, 22, 22M, 95/142 & 160 ranging from reasonable to excellent from Steven J Zaloga & Piotr Butowski as well as Lt Col Artemyev.

Well, Russian aircraft have recently been mostly covered by Alexander Mladenov, but they have also published for example beautiful articles on the Tu-16 (Maid of All Work) and Tu-142 by Lt Col (Retired) Anatoliy Artemyev, which are very well written, he’s very technically literate but also knows operational details and doesn’t shy away from telling you when things didn’t work.

Im so loathed to say it but I reckon the J-10 is a nice lookin aircraft, the Dinks have steped up to the plate big time with the J-10,along with the Flanker the Gooks are really a force to be reckoned with now,bet Taiwan is looking across the Staits with a worried look on their face

Loathed to say it? You got it right there….

Other problems with your post:

lookin

Staits

look on their face (should be “look on its face” or “looks on their faces”)

Thats leaving to one side the use of “Gooks” and “Dinks”…. got to be a troll, surely?

ok I got this flow chart from another message board:
. BO-105
. / |
. EC-135 BK-117
. / | /
. EC-635 EC-145
what I want to know is can I arm the EC-145 or modify the EC-635 so the Army can combine two HUGE programs into one Armed Reconnaissance Light Utility Helicopter??

Erm, that would be the original LHX plan then…

(LHX/SCAT, LHX/U)

I`m currious what is the source of that story? Hmm, generally designers from military facilities were not allowed to cross the border for safety reasons, neither for bussines nor for a “stupid” vacation. That`s how it worked here during that time too.
Please correct me if I`m wrong but the boundary layer blowing system called in the Udssr the SPS(systema sduva pogranicnogo sloja) has been installed on Mig-21PF since 1958. Thanks.

It was quoted by Yefim Gordon. I don’t know if its true or not, but why wouldn’t it be?

As to boundary layer blowing – well, it would make sense to the comment if Mikoyan had first hand experience of the complexity of a SPS system.

The actual story is that Mikoyan came back from the 1959 Paris Airshow and told the PD section to draw up an interceptor along the lines of the Vigilante but without the all-too-complex boundary layer blowing system.
