F-24 to F-34 were skipped because the F-35 was named in the X- sequence as X-35, and they decided to keep the -35 for the production version.

Its probably not signed yet, but it was widely preannounced. 50 aircraft, $1.5 billion, probably a mix of MiG-29 and MiG-AT.

No, it seems that the engines are AL-55s for the IAF HJT-36. Its a zero risk engine, basically an AL-31 without afterburner scaled down on the office photocopier- no nasty surprises should await cos they know the AL-31F pretty well by now 😉

They replaced the solid fuel booster by a fuel tank, apparently.

Replacement of the booster with a fuel tank enabled its range to be extended from 115 km to 285 km.

The Kh-59M used a Soyuz RDK-300 turbofan. Where is your source for an engine change?

Unless UMPO are going to build Kaveri’s, of course?

Well the only possible engine that would fit is an RD-33 derivative, but UMPO built AL-31F not RD-33… Maybe they got a license from Klimov?

Note that the Kaveri specs don’t seem to be much if any advance on RD-33..

I did think about posting it on April 1 as a “leaked sketch of the PAK-FA” to see if anyone would fall for it, but I couldn’t be bothered redrawing it more carefully 😉

fighter-bomber version is probably more multirole than those aircraft, IMHO.

    More like a mini-me F-16…

I just thought- I’ll set up a website and offer it for sale- call it the F-36 😉

Erez its pretty nice, but rather Lavi influenced wouldn’t you say? Why two guns?

Of course my design is very F-23 influenced from the side 😉

Hey, can I enter a small but twin engine design?

Its similar to Gavin’s design in some ways.

BTW Srbin your views simply don’t match very well.

    😉

    Well those numbers are nothing like other Su-27 c/n formats. I culled a few from the internet;

    Single seat Su-27 (KNAAPO?)
    36911010203
    36911028003
    36911031412

369110 is the same always, the next number I’ve seen 1, 2 and 3- year or batch maybe? The last 4 numbers were randomly assigned in Russian times, to prevent spies from working out production totals.

    Odd numbered Su-27 (IAPO?)
    1031411

    Dual seat Su-27UB (probably IAPO)
    1040804
    1040807
    1041201

    Odd numbered Su-27UB
    49021002103 (?)
    96310424035 (possibly a misidentified Su-30?)

    Su-27K (KNAAPO)
    49051002502
    49051003604

    Su-30
    96310104010
    96310107023

    Su-35
    79871010102
    79871011001
    79871011002

Actually the Russian Baget series of processors run VXWorks, a commercial RTOS which is used to run the displays in the F-22, for example.

The book is submitted to the appropriate Russian authorities for clearance, so there will be a limit on what can be divulged in avionics stuff I imagine.

He seems to be looking for more operational stuff (stories about Russian service, etc) which would address the main shortcomings of the original book.
