But this is based on what is probably outdated information from WarbirdRegistry.org.
This is the other airshow act from Jeff Boerboon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA-w8HjeY2Q (which also neatly pulls this thread back into the ‘Historic’ world….)
Room to fix a CJ601 jet to the new centre section, that’s why. 😉
I must admit that I would have preferred the Buchon canopy too…. it would have made it a bit more ‘special’ if you ask me.
Looks like a bit of a crosswind, he certainly needed the rudder. Great sight!
Thank you for the confirmation. I’ve gone and done a bit of digging and found out that it was 2002 when these Spitfires arrived at Duxford. I somehow figured that they were all Mk.IXs or similar, I never realised that there were Seafires amongst them. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them in situ at Duxford, I wasn’t a frequent visitor back then (actually, that hasn’t changed :apologetic:).
The photo of this Seafire in Burmese colours reminds me of that batch of Spitfires that was imported from Burma many years ago. I remember that quite a few of the fuselages were green and that some of them could not be identified at that point. Was this one from that batch as well?
Do you mean the BEA Bedford HA 110 van?
They’re using quite a few references to BOAC and BA in the ad, surely they’ve arranged that with the BA press department. It may have been one of their conditions.

Great video again Andy! Thanks for sharing that.
Interesting to have a number, but I must admit that I somehow expected it to be higher. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how this compares to other ‘popular’ types at the end of the war?
You’re not missing much Duggy, when logged in you only see the now famous Photobucket ‘Please update your account’ images.
Interesting, never seen this before. The post on the Airfield Research Group forums states that the tubes were mounted in place of the mid-upper turret, but the image in the thread shows the Radio Compartment, looking aft (the manual gear/flaps handles on the bulkhead confirm this for me, as well as the shape of the roof hatch). It would also account for all the electrical bits…
Edit: We’re on the same page Zidante, I just hadn’t seen your post yet.
Great news! I could only watch the one video in the link, Facebook login is needed for more.
