That is a good question but who says Dunsfold will close? There is a decision from the local council now but the matter will have to be decided by the Secretary of State for the Government, there are many objections to be dealt with and the local infrastructure will have to be improved before any development is possible. We might well be five or even ten years further down the road before we know what will ultimately happen to Dunsfold.
I take it this is the first paint job since 1975?
My memory is telling me that the Britannia was restored and repainted at some point in the 90s. I’m sure someone will be along to let me know if I’m hallucinating.
Looks more like an approximation of a Harvard canopy to me. The front bit is certainly different from the real thing (the front end of a Harvard not being flat of course…).
Wikipedia doesn’t always provide complete information. They mention the propellor type that was on a Mk.1. Yours is from a different subtype.
Santa on strike as well this year?….
He’s not on strike, but as his sleigh is not equipped with 8.33 kHz Comms equipment and his reindeer may have problems getting in and out of the UK now that Brexit and different import restrictions are looming… he has booked a seat on a lowcost carrier:
Well, there are some Mustangs around that share an identity. Does that count?
Edit: I should clarify that this issue has been resolved a few years back and both Mustangs are back to using different identities:

Well when I hit ‘post’ there were two photos attached, where did they go?
The forum apparently still has problems with uploaded photos. I would love to see them though! Could you upload them to Flickr or Photobucket and link to them perhaps?
Can I add one more little bug? For some reason the forum refuses to remember that I’m logged in, but when I then log in I get this message:
Invalid Redirect URL (http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/)
It looks like the redirect after login is still set to the .co.uk domain while the forum has moved to a .com domain. Perhaps this is also the reason that my login is not remembered, I may need to clean up the old cookies.
A very interesting article, I never realised that the T-6 was the basis for those replica Kates! That must make the T-6 family the clear winner in the ‘most types represented on film’ category 😀
Oldprops has a list that should not be too far off (last updated in 2014): http://www.oldprops.ukhome.net/Percival%20Prince%20census.htm
I hope that his final journey will be a smoother one than that first trip. I was just reading the report on his Mercury flight earlier this week, it is impressive how much detail he was able to provide from that relatively short flight. See here: http://m.aviationweek.com/blog/glenns-1962-pilot-report-nasa-mercury-mission
At one point in the video I had a go at counting the approximate number of shots per revolution. I would hazard a guess at 6 to 7 rounds per prop revolution which would work out to around 1200 rounds per minute based on their stated prop rpm of 200. Sounds a bit high.
That’s great news! Thanks for letting us know.
They did say at one point that it was a modified M60 they were using as the correct type of weapon wasn’t available. Perhaps they slowed down the prop to get the correct ratio between prop rpm and firing rate, but that is a guess on my side.
Edit: I see that a typical Clerget rotary delivers maximum power at 1250 rpm, so that is not too far from the 2400 blades per minute mentioned above. How do the firing rates of a Vickers and an M60 compare?
Is it just me or did the rotational speed of the propellor appear to be rather low (no I do not mean in the slo-mo clips)?
