I fthey didn’t, then who did buy it?
This thread reminds me that my very first roll of colour slide film was exposed on a couple of Belgian Air Force Thunderstreaks at the Bristol Air Day, Filton on 18th June 1966. One was flown by a crazy Belgian pilot at ultra-low level down the runway with smoke – fantastic! 😮
Albert,
could you post those pictures at the BAHA forum? (Belgian Aviation History Association) I’m sure they would be VERY interested in them. link:

Actually I thought he was referring to the Frog kit of the Lancaster. Frog = Flys Right Off the Ground.

They are called French, not frog, thank you very much!
I don’t think the T-33’s are worth recovering. The others…
nice 🙂 let’s go get them!
almost all the Hermeskeil aircraft are outside. They don’t really seem interested in preservation
from the Fantasy of Flight website (About kermit Weeks):
What else does Kermit want? He’s reluctant to say, for fear of driving up the price, but admits to coveting a Martin Mars–a flying boat even bigger than the one he’s got. The last examples still in existence are in Canada, serving as water bombers for a timber consortium. They aren’t for sale. Perhaps someday.
Guess we know where at least one of them will be going 🙂
when I first read this topic I was thinking about this type of nimrod 😀
found the topic 🙂

I presume that the ex Southend ‘Heinkel’ used in ‘Piece of Cake’ was the one in the crash scene,
The BoB DVD mentions they build a full size Heinkel replica. Wouldn’t this be used in the crash scene?
I would love to be there on the BAHA(AT) trip but I have to work 🙁 Shame they don’t organise such a trip in a weekend
the one in Germany is in Hermeskeil
