Several F4’s remain in Belgium. Only one F6 and its rotten with corrosion. Even the Hunter is our aerobatic team colors in the Brussels museum is an F4. It should be an F6. Guess the F4’s weren’t worth reselling and the F6’s were. It’s also a case of new toys I guess. We had CF-100, F-84,F-104.. coming in great numbers to replace them. The CF-100’s are another bad case of managment. They were scrapped after only a few years of service. Not one remained for a museum. The one in Brussels is a Canadian gifted one, but the wrong MK.

About 10 years ago, I priced insurance for a Bell 47. Helicopters don’t have the best safety record and I didn’t have a lot of time… The rate was about $1000 a month. One reason why I have a garage full of vintage cars now instead of just one helicopter.

Can’t you insure per flight instead of per month?

It is an FW190 in it’s basic form but some systems were altered to a more modern one to make it safer to operate. So the CAA should let it fly as it’s in essence safer then a wartime FW190!

    Hello Fouga 23,

It was long a go when a friend of mine a test pilot refused the paint job of his flown old FAF Fouga Magister CM 170. He said he was told it will weight more or less 100 kg altogether.

Some people have found this estimate grossly exaggerated. He is a lightweigh person and flew it alone in air shows…does this matter ( will there be excess weight in the tail ) ?

I don’t think it matters that much. Yes, it adds weight, but if done correctly it shouldn’t be much. I assume it was a Fouga with MarborΓ© VI engines? more then enough power to handle a little paint πŸ™‚
If you fill all the dents, screws,… and keep a smooth paint finish it can even be good for your airspeed!
