I never understood these legal challenges.. Hell, Germany can do what they want and buy/lease whatever they see fit without having to answer to GA or whoever else.

Too early for that.. From what I have heard, this type is more or less a private venture of Shengyang in order to stay relevant in the fighter business vis-a-vis to Chengdu. There is no official interest or set of requirements from PLAN.. but I think this could be a very suitable type for carrier-based operations.. much be than the J-20

By far the prettiest Chinese jet thus far.. but those tail fins are huge.. how does that play together with frontal RCS?
    Did it get longer, BTW?

    Briefly discussed here..

I have seen some indications that from the 18 ex-IAF Su-30K/MK only 12 were overhauled for Angola and the remaining six shall go to a certain ME state.. Either Iraq or Iran.. Hard to say if legit or not.

the Mi-171 is Iraqi army aviation. that’s either a canvas or photoshop Kurdish flag.

Photoshop it ain’t.. On the YI-255 it looks painted if you ask me.. They also seem to use the YI-413..

Looks like the first Angolan Su-30Ks are being test-flown at 558.ARZ at Baranovichi, Belarus (alongside Su-25Ks)

Wtf! So now Russia is not a NC Superpower!
What other term is best used then?

I don’t care about used terms, frankly..

Russia can’t mount a fleet of carrier on short notice to deploy to different teathers and bring with them large Marines units and support them with large air transport fleet.

Russia does not need a fleet of carriers. The geographic situation is completely different, Russia spans throughout the whole Eurasia. Whatever country of interest is located there, they can easily reach using other means. The only continent Russians would not be able to deploy onto effectively are the Americas, especially Latin America. I don’t think this is planned for next ~70 years, anyway, therefore investing in a fleet of say 7 nuclear carriers and 15 flattops, each worth $3bn makes absolutely no sense.

Beside Russia has 2-3 bases outside Russia. USA have over 150 military bases around the world.
That make USA a GOLBAL power(if you want, use Superpower, i do not care) in terms of conventional military might.
    And Russia a Regional power.

I don’t think we can take the US as merit of things. If that is the case, the no one else is a global power.. But as we have seen in the last 30 years, even Americans are not capable to execute a successful campaign. They might be powerful enough to maintain the current status quo for a while longer, but they are not able to overthrow a hostile government and install a friendly one. The last successful campaign of the US was Granada in 1983, after that everything ended up a disaster (Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine).

What right term? The one you have just invented?
If Russia is not a conventional global power, then who is?

What he means with Continental power, its the same as Regional Power.
Russia do not have 180 military bases around the world. They do not have 10 super carriers and lots of smaller carrier fleet to travel the world.
Hence, Russia is a Regional power, and not a global power in terms of their military.

Their nuclear arsenal alone easily qualifies them as global power..

They had access to more or less the same components and software as any other manufacturer. That is a completely worthless analogy. Stealth technology is closely controlled by anyone who has invested the time and money necessary to develop it.

Complete nonsense.. there is nothing like “stealth technology”, in the first place.. it is not a single technology which you either have or don’t, it’s a whole array of techniques which lead to more or less efficient reduction of detectability.. and you may or may not apply all of them.. can Sweden or Russia compute shape of the airframe in order to minimize radar return? Sure.. do they have materials for absorption of radar waves? Sure.. do they have RAM? Sure.. Are these materials every bit as effective (radar return attenuation, energy dissipation..) as ones made in the US? No idea, maybe not.. is the RAM paint every bit as advanced as the RAM applied on the F-35 in terms of maintenance? Maybe not, we don’t know.. does it play a role? No, it does not.. The F-22 Raptor might be more maintenance sensitive than the F-35 and its technologies may be a decade older but.. does it work? Hell, it does.. So where is your problem?

On LO aircraft? No, they don’t. Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, Stealth aircraft aren’t designed, built, or maintained like legacy aircraft:
    1. Avionics systems- The antenna have to be both

    ../..

The actual process of mass production, fielding it, and supporting it in operation would require acquiring expertise they don’t have yet. In either case, they would likely partner with a corporation that does have experience.

That’s all normal challenges, nothing unusual.. new gen brings new stuff, what’s so strange here? even designing and building Gripens wasn’t easy, only few nations worldwide can pull it off.. and I am sure SAAB would partner with corps offering such experience if they are available (f.e. propulsion)..

Those fanboys….. almost as annoying and delusional as those that think that there is nothing difficult about designing and building LO aircraft. That takes a special type of wishful thinking in view of the literature, research, and current examples of technical challenges faced by nations trying to build their first LO aircraft.

No one cares about those medieval times of stealth.. today’s technologies are way beyond that.. when Xioami entered the market of cellphones, they, too, did not have to face technical challenges and research faced by Jobs trying to build his first iPhone.. they simply skipped several generations and went over right to iPhone 6.. have they succeeded without any previous experience? sure, they have..
