Spud, the Norwegian “results” have been discussed to death already, few years ago.. I am quite sure that you took part there, as well.. Strongly defending the F-35, of course.. I don’t think I am interested to go back to this, again, especially since you’ve made up your mind about this long before any real data was available.. A complete waste of time, IMO..

The Gripen-NG should have lower operating cost than Gripen-C, according to SAAB, BTW.. F414 engine with higher MTBO, AESA radar with high MTBF, etc.

Nobody thinks that the F-35A is less to operate than a JAS-39C on a 1:1 basis.

Well, Norwegians obviously do.. whenever there is a political order for the results to look in certain requested manner..

Sheytan has info from Iraqi MoD.. that means his accounts on Iranian kill claims are much more accurate than what IRIAF jocks say to Tom Cooper.. At the same time, his info on Iraqi kills might be less accurate because it’s unconfirmed

Multiple recent foreign contests have shown that the F-35 is cheaper to buy, maintain, & upgrade than the Eurofighter. I am sure the Belgian program will show the same. One thing that may not show in the Belgian decision is that the bid is for a fixed number of airframes and support through 2030. As the Denmark decisdion shows, the EF will “wear out” 2000 (25%) hours sooner than F-35 and will need either extensive (ie very expensive) rebuilds or more airframes to share the load. These future costs are not reflected in the Belgian RFP but may appear in the final decision.

None of those contests were based on anything more than guesstimates and powerpoint slides. No real data, no operational testing, nothing.. They hold exactly zero informational value.. Results which have highlighted the F-35 as less expensive to operate than the JAS39C have cast reasonable doubts on the intellectual honesty of these assessments.

Sheytan (sheytanelkebir) is an Iraqi poster on this forum.. former military background, Mirage F1EQ pilot, I believe.. providing excellent first hand accounts, no BS, great info, balanced and believable.. with all due respect, his accounts make Tom Cooper’s kill claims look like complete bo!!ocks, sorry to say this..

Ordering more EFs would provide a certain level of additional capability. The F-35 would provide a higher increment in capability, better interoperability with NATO states and more effective options against A2AD threats, while no doubt being an far inferior proposition for the domestic industry.

    This..

By all means, most of the claims made by Tom Cooper have proven to be completely false.. especially related to Iraq-Iran war.. Ask Sheytan..

Frankly, this is the first time I hear about the MiG-31 resembling a Tomcat.. But be my guest..

The real question is what exactly is there on the F-35 which Germany needs so badly and which they cannot take on with Typhoons.. In my humble opinion, there is hardly such thing.. But, I, too, might be entirely wrong..

So? Your own govt, too, would not treat armed anti-govt groups like Southeast Constitutional Militia, Illinois Sons of Liberty or Idaho Light Foot Militia differently from Three Percenters Club or United Patriots, would they? Once they cross the line and launch an armed resistance, they are all terrorists..
    Why should Assad differentiate?

Change in leadership. Money talks. I still think the Soviets had a lot more on the F-14 than the West realized. The Soviets were/are great at spying. Within a couple of years of the revolution, the MiG-31 was VVS entering service. No way the Russians turned that kind of technology around in two years. The tech the Russians acquired from the West and inspired by the F-14 went into the MiG-31. Along with some powerful engines.

What has the MiG-31 had in common with F-14A is beyond me.. Tech-wise they are not even similar..
