gkozak, that 2nd picture of yours shows a Danish bird, not a Swiss one..
By nobody, you mean everybody but Syrian gov., Russian gov. And their respective sycophants:
It’s time you finally stick your head out of the sand and look the reality in the eye.. nobody cares about what US have to say about Syria..

Why would they need to receive them? Much easier to send few pilots over for evaluation..
:eagerness: Who would have thought that? π
Chemical weapons against your civilians is also illegal by international law.
The old tired card with chemweap…. no one believes that, anymore.. it also makes no sense, at all..
Well, that was 30 years ago.. but the question is, is the B61 delivery capability so important for Germany today, so that they need to take it into account when making a decision about their next gen jet and evtl. go for a foreign design instead of their own Typhoons? Makes me wonder, really..
C-FCXE, DHC-1B-2 Chipmunk
Anyway, help me understand this.. The combat radius of a Tornado launched from Italy is roughly enough to reach the western part of Ukraine. Even in case of emergency they will never have reached Russia (unless assuming a kamikaze type mission).. What’s the use of free-fall nukes, then?

I want to hear Gen. David Goldfein say he wants six squadrons of Rafales and see how long he lasts in the office.. :highly_amused:
So, you point out TVip’s post as bare opinions then state this.
Bravo, pathetic.
Funny that you don’t label his opinions as pathetic, first.. oh, because he has the “right” ones…
What is the cruise speed of a typhoon with a bomb load? ( inf to f35)
What are the surviving chances of a Typhoon in a contested airspace? (vastly < F35)
What are the cost of operating and buying a Typhoon? (aprox. equal f35)
How many support aircraft are needed for each Typhoon offensive mission? (qty vastly sup. to f35)
What are the capabilities brought by a Typhoon squadron to a country defense? (inf. to f35)
End of Arguments
It’s simple, really..
– no one gives damn.. speed is the last thing you care about when carrying a bomb load
– more than enough
– MUCH less.. Typhoon gulps good 30% less fuel, spares are plenty, you can even buy loads of 2nd hand airframes to cannibalize.. from Austria, Spain or UK..
– none.. you simply fire from a stand-off like Israelis are doing in Syria and get away.. only an idiot would sneak upon a protected target if he can avoid it completely
– excellent.. probably much more than you’ll ever need
Arguments? I have not seen you provide any..
Every major defense program has hiccups, every aircraft has unforeseen issues. There is no perfect aircraft that met all design goals (especially upon IOC). Time for some to admit the doom and gloom, and claims of inferiority were inaccurate. Obviously, as a program, the F-35 has a way to go to justify itβs expense. But if past predictions and projections are compared to reality, the program is on solid footing moving forward.
There was hardly ever doubt about the F-35 eventually reaching series production one day.. and hardly ever doubts about certain qualities it brings..
My personal issue with this thing was always two-fold.. 1. claims of a Raptor Mk2, only smaller 2. claims about 50mil a piece which completely erases any European competition.
The reality is as follows:
1. The F-35 is not a Raptor.. kinematically.. not even close.. not even close to a Typhoon, IMHO..
2. The F-35 is not cheaper than the rest.. also not visibly more expensive now that the AESAed Eurocanards (e.g. Raf F4) have visibly risen in price. But, even with those huge lots in the pipeline, you still need $2.3 billion for a dozen (export) F-35As..
That’s it.. Of course the F-35 has a solid future, backed up by all three US armed forces branches.. But as these two things have worked out by themselves, I hardly feel the urge to discuss this aircraft, anymore..
Originally, the MiG-35 should have had Zhuk-AE AESA.. the MiG-29M2 should have been a simplified version, without in-flight refueling probe, with mechanical Zhuk-M2E radar, but with identical cockpits.. but with the Zhuk-AE still not ready for deployment the differences have kinda vanished.. Egyptian birds do have IFR probes..
Personally, I would be very happy to see you pull your head out of your rear and get back on track.
Yeah, right.. everyone should bow down to the F-35 and worship it like a brainless zombie.. :eagerness:
