Manchester – 10th June apparently.
But not for a landing…..I’m still trying to find a brown envelope big enough for a decent-sized bung so that it does a fly-by. But then it will be fairly common from around 2008/2009 (if a bit monotonous as only 1 airline will probably send it in on a regular basis).

Doubt it would be bmi….given the history of objections to long-haul airlines wishing to service MAN and “aligned” airlines being “encouraged” to drop MAN, I would not be too surprised if it was not a Bigger Airline.
David
No new routes then ??????
Take advantage of any low fares on MAN-Oslo nowas they’re chopping that on 4th March!

There’s a nice quote in a book that I’ve got which covers this phenomena (slightly rewritten to avoid the heavy mob descending upon me!):
With no background, differing cloud and lighting conditions, and only approximate knowledge of the size of the aircraft captured, it can be hard to determine distances.
Anyway, I imagine that even if there was an ATC failure and a TCAS failure, they would have been visible to each other.
The 747 seems to fit airlines needs quite nicely and so I think there will only be a certain number of 747 (or A330/40, T7) operators that will need to upgrade to the A380.
That may well be true over the next 5 to 10 years, but after that, I don’t think we’ll find too much concrete being allowed to be poured onto the ground which would mean that for a potential tripling of passenger traffic over the next 20-30 years, the average plane size will have to increase so we may see A321s on A320 routes, 739s for 73Gs, 777s for 767, 747s for 777s, etc. Obviously, for some airlines that have 747s but are not full to bursting on most of the routes they fly, the B748 (and not the HS748!) would be one to have but for others (mainly Asian airlines), they may want to go to A380s to cater for the bigger passenger carrier potential (think of China/India when the masses start to travel).
Some of us are old enough to remember the original G-SWAN! Didn’t you fancy being up at stupid o’clock for the new THY 737 and get an exclusive picture?
BA1502/1503 does have good loads but not sufficient C class passengers to warrant 777 operations. I’m still trying to work out the justification for going to 3 classes when they’ve consistently denied that there is sufficient premium passengers in the MAN catchment area. Perhaps this is the beginning of the end for BA’s regional long-haul operations (such as they are!).
Noticed on the VS thread on airliners.net that there is meant to be a “shock” new MAN route….JFK! Just cannot envisage them operating it now, especially as the “right” aircraft is being displaced and also given that the range of destinations from MAN are predominantely leisure based: MCO, BGI and UVF (even if the latter is STILL not listed on their timetable!)
Nice photos encore une fois but it has to be said…blue skies again…don’t they know we’ve got a reputation to keep! Quite thick fog now shrouding the airport – VLM and Aer Arran off to LPL but TCX993L must have bribed a few aircraft to go from being number 8 on approach to number 2 in the space of 10 minutes otherwise it too would have been off! Some of us could forecast what was going to happen as Hough End playing fields disappeared from view at about 3.30pm! Portugalia will be off to LBA and the Air Malta has got an EAT 50 mimutes from now.
KL957 ended up in MAN
I’ve no doubt the people in nearby CFF will be complaining that the BTL services to NWK should now be moved to them. (IATA codes deliberately made wrong, in line with one or all of the spence_cwl codes in his post!)
Think the reasoning behind STN and not LTN may be something to do with STN being identified as London’s 3rd airport and also the airport that would be used in times of hijacking. But I’m willing to be corrected!
David
and their STN-MAN services started as well. AB8054 (the afternoon service) had 93 pax on board.
The name I would like to ressurect would be EUJet 😮
I felt that that airline had real potential, and also proved that there was a market from Kent International (Manston, MSE).
I severely doubt that they proved the market exists from MSE – they appeared to be struggling to half-fill the 100 seat Fk100 on a lot of their routes so the economics of having no more than 50 to 60 passengers on an aircraft with 180 seats to fill only means that they would have folded quite quickly!
One remembers the times when an unheard of airline called EUJet applied for slots out of MAN a few years ago….now if they had been successful in getting the slots, they would have stood a better chance of making a go out of their operations as there would have been little lo-cost competition at MAN and only easyJet out of LPL.
And the blurb I’ve seen on releases today suggests they are still seeking final permission to come to MAN!
Having now seen who’s contrbuted to that pprune thread, all I can say is “roll on next week!”.
