If it HAS flown, the sudden lack of facebook/tweeted info from BBMF is a bit odd isn’t it?
They ran the engine when Bluebird K3 was displayed statically (on a trailer) at the annual “Bexhill 100” motor-fest a good few years ago – probably fifteen years ago?
I am sure they said it was the original Type R engine in it at that stage, but without digging out my old camcorder tapes to check I could be wrong.
The sound was incredible given the open exhaust ports – lovely!

Not 100%, but I think you’ll find that was the Meteor too- I don’t think an ‘R’ has been run for a VERY long time!
To confirm, this is Sir Malcolm Campbell’s Bluebird K3, running a Meteor tank engine.
One of the most genuinely incredible things I’ve ever seen- my heart is still pounding now just from watching it!
Maybe the thread title should be altered to the correct ‘Coley’s’?
Sections of Donald Campbell’s parts-donor Gnat XM691 most likely went to Coleys, as did the sponsons from Bluebird as recovered after the crash- though that’s a highly contentious subject!

I think it was something to do with a cabin heating system..? Not sure on that.
Her tail fins are the later style enlarged pattern used on some batches of Lancs, and have been with her since new.

Yes- it was plentiful and had a worthy service career- but it seems forever doomed to be remembered for it’s quirks and awful looks!
