RE: Lanc squad colors
From memory, weren’t the yellow outlines particular to just one Group-5 rings a bell?
RE: Hendon free entry
Oh goody, maybe now they’ll speed up that Hampden, let poor S-Sugar down off her silly perch, and fix up that rusty old bomber, eh Halibag mate?!
RE: Lanc squad colors
Was it just the RCAF sqdns. that did this?
RE: Lancaster NX 611
I would guess that as it was listed in the ‘new season’ preview thing I saw on BBC teletext, it may well be this end of the year-I hope so, anyway! It’s not on in the next fortnight for sure, but let’s all keep our eyes peeled-and hope the film of ‘611 tail-high at speed is worth the wait!
RE: WW2 MU numbers
‘Moggy C’? You’ll be a ‘Piece Of Cake’ fan then!!!
RE: Another for Lancman
😛 Ha ha you guys are SO easy to wind up! Of COURSE I know all the pros and cons of the two engine types on the Lanc, I am after all THE Lancman!
Post a Halifax picture? Wash your radials out with soap!
RE: Glenn Miller Mystery
Halibag, no, grandad knew nothing about the little plane seen by the Lanc crew-it wasn’t one of ‘his’ at the time, and as far as he knows, the story didn’t make it around the squadron or anything like that.
RE: Lancaster NX 611
You haven’t missed it mate, I’ve been waiting for it for ages too! Currently on BBC teletext there is a preview section for the coming year and it’s mentioned there as a ‘one-off drama’ and is still called ‘Night Flight’. Everyone keep their eyes peeled for this one!
RE: Another for Lancman
Well spotted! Personally I don’t think the radials ever suited the Lanc, they were chunky, lumpy looking engines, and not as good as the Merlin of course, but cheers anyway!
RE: Lancaster for Lancman
Nice shot Neilly, cheers and Happy New Year mate!
RE: Glem Miller Mystery
There was nothing new as such in the programme, I knew about all of this from a book called ‘Failed To Return’ that was out years and years ago, but it was still a very good show-I took even greater interest as my grandad was ground crew on the Lanc squadron involved, 149.
RE: Lancman. good news…..!
Hurrah! I hope they put the standard version back out too, that was a fantastic kit.
RE: Pic Of The Day-20/12/2001
Yes Halibag I knew that, but then there are probably parts representing most of the wartime RAF up there in ‘474!
Mentioning the Halifax wreck, I was particularly struck by it on a recent visit to Hendon, after not having been for a good few years-it really does make you think.
RE: Pic Of The Day-20/12/2001
Indeed, I think the old BBMF has been around for so many years now, this is actually a sight a lot of us take for granted. But, it IS one hell of a sight-who’d have thought, all these years after the war, that there would still be a Lanc and it’s little friends in our skies?
