We have a Twitter account for The Bluebird Project, though we don’t use it much and don’t expect it to come into it’s own until we’re actually beside some water with a finished boat and an expectant public who’ll need frequent updating etc!
I remember seeing Gary Numan there too, and recognised the name Kulp as soon as I heard it. Nice little airshow was that- sunny day, trees all round, little airfield, Lanc looking huge…
That was it! Thank you. 😀
I assumed it was an American act, but it was certainly the only time I ever saw it here in the UK. I can’t even imagine such an act being allowed these days! Would love to know who it was I saw, anyhow.
We never did find THE one, but I still reckon that was every bit as much a pre-production item as the aircraft it came out of. However, we have a good stock of very close items and the ability to get them made just-right, so mustn’t grumble!
Nope?
I thought those who may not be regular followers of ours might like to see how the boat is looking currently- many other images also in our online gallery. There’s more to her than even this shot shows, as the intake structure that sits behind the cockpit is very well advanced, and the nose is mostly there too.
I see that the fantastic yearly brochures from BBMF will no longer be free- they will now be £2 each. (Still sent free to LLA members with the Spring journal though)
As a few people on or from here have asked me in the past, I’m pleased to say that you’ll now find a fledgling gallery on the main BBP website.
Re. the depiction of the boat impacting the water on it’s left hand side, there will be a full piece on this complete with original archive video evidence coming soon too.
Just a pile of elevators for now, something for folk to work on when there’s a lull(!) in the big blue boat.
We’ve got a few bits of one in our workshop…
K7 landed on her left hand side, having rolled such at the last moment. The CG shows her rolling left way too early, as she loops, which IS a mistake. Otherwise, they got how she broke up spot on, which was the point of the graphic, and we were very pleased with the programme, though I was mortified at seeing myself talking on the telly for the first time! 😮
Latest You Tube clip now online-
AND we’ve finally announced Bluebird’s new pilot and also made it into the online Daily Mail today-
Hope everyone enjoys the documentary tonight!
