However LLA day would be very boring if it was just the Lanc, with nothing else to see or do!!
LLA owning a static Shack and Vulcan at another airfield won’t do much for the LLA day at Coningsby, either…
Nothing secret going on here- it’s been printed in their own journal- try Autumn 2007, No.48- the LLA own Shack WR977 and Vulcan XM594 at Newark.
The LLA said that the website is now defunct- I forget why.
The LLA journal is always nice to receive, and it’s gotten much better in recent years, but to be honest, and no offence is meant here, it does still come over as a publication put together by a bunch of old folk! Thank heavens for the inclusion of material direct from OC BBMF these days, I say.
Plus, the LLA are moving away from their original purpose of safeguarding the Lanc, and have branched out into ownership of a Vulcan and (I think?) a Shack; to be honest, that’s NOT what I pay my mebership to them for.
Just a thought.
Just had a look-see.
Danielle Hughes.
Wowsah! 😮 😀
Those who love it can’t comprehend that not everybody is as blindly besotted with it as they are.
Well said- sums up the entire thing for me.
Just used the e-donate facility.
I urge anyone else who want’s to see XH558 fly to do the same.
Cheers
Zwit
I wanted to see it fly.
I donated.
It flew.
Oh, hang on…
It really is an absurd amount of money, isn’t it?
Probably in a hole…..
I remember the Vulcan with great fondness (for a jet) but can’t help feeling that a lot more good could have been done with that £6m for aircraft preservation in the UK.
Hear, hear.
Delisted? Certainly not!
But opened from time to time wouldn’t hurt! 😀
You can imagine on the one hand that the Lanc doing it’s poppy drop routine somewhere over Germany could be taken as an ultimate symbol of peace…but then again, I can just as easily imagine the equal if not greater amount of upropar such a plan would cause as well!
I don’t think there’s even a reason to speculate re. PA474’s ‘condition’ vs. that of the CWH Lanc; I’d eat my own foot the day the BBMF said they were taking ‘474 across the Atlantic!
I wouldn’t have thought wear and tear would be an issue, but costs certainly would be, as would the CWH’s rules on operating the aircraft- they’re not exactly keen on it going that far from home base, are they?
As long as that’s not behind the scenes footage of the Jackson remake, we’ll be okay!
I’d like to buy S-Sugar from Hendon, and give her the full makeover that she desperately deserves/needs.
I’m with Fluffy- this thread is getting a bit out of hand. 🙁
