Dr Pepper – you never posted anything further on this thread of yours – did you take the forum advice??:)
Thanks guys for the replies.
Sky High, as a matter of fact I did. GP has discussed the incident and seemed as as confused as I am. Not as concerned however.
We will NEVER see aerobatic teams flying stealth aircraft….after all that’s the whole point of stealth aircraft, you never see them haha….sorry just bored
well if you follow the PLAAF thread’s claims.. the J-10’s defeat of the Su-27/J-11 is because the J-10 was superior, not the pilot. Does this mean J-10 = upgraded F-4
J-20, I have read about the Chinese claims of the J-10 being superior to the Su-27. I have (or rather had) a copy of International Airpower Review stating this when it featured the J-10. However, I would be sceptical about these claims. After all the Chinese are not likely to say “our aircraft was inferior to the Su-27” as this would beg the question “why is a modern aircraft inferior to an aircraft produced thirty years ago?”…also it wouldn’t sound good for marketing lol…
Do you grasp the fact that NATO countries will never buy Chinese fighters ?
Agreed, this order or these orders have not come from NATO members
do you mean “were combat missions ever delayed/dropped due to unavailable aircraft?”
I doubt it, but not every Su-25 in the Russian inventory was deployed to S.O.. It may have started to be a problem had the fighting continued for much longer
Yeah, A-10 ain’t history just yet!
don’t knock the upgrades. Even though its an F-4.. major avionics upgrades keep aircraft like these meaningful.
oh, no no…I wouldn’t dare knock an upgrade. In fact I’m all for them. I often see nations planning to buy ultra modern ultra expensive toys for their air forces and other armed forces branches and often think, an upgrade of their current equipment would be by far the better choice.
Aspis
“Risking to appear biased, there is something odd here. The turkish upgraded F4s are not AMRAAM capable. The upgrade was A-G oriented. So, how did they beat the Su-27? In BVR using AIM-9? In WVR using AIM-9? Next to impossible in both cases unless the chinese are the worst pilots on the planet…Unless they were competing in A-G scenarios and the F4s managed to outperform them in accuracy…”
A difference in training would also be a factor in losing to the Turks. Remember not everyone trains the same. I would say that Turkey, who participates in major multi-national excercise on a regular basis would have learnt a few tricks to combat superior aircraft like the F-15 or Su-27.
I would agree with Dionis,
Saying Libya had an “air force” is true in that it had jet fighters. However, given the lack of equality in training and pilot flying hours not a single type in service with the LARAF would have posed a serious threat to a Mirage 2000, never mind Rafales or Typhoons.
Even the Americans came right out and said to the press that Libyan defences were nothing to worry about (if I can find the statement on youtube I will post it).
China participated in the recent Anatolian Eagle with the Turks. Rumour has it the Su-27s had their bums handed them by upgraded F-4 pilots but that may just be rumour and nothing more.
Jo, she is a thing of beauty.
Thanks

They call the P-3C an attack jet LMFAO
At least they got the anti-submarine part right. A reporter probably ‘google imaged’ the P-3 and saw pictures of the US Navies replacement, the P-8.
whether they think or not, pakistan’s friends in state dept certainly do. and I am willing to bet US will do just that. 😉
considering this is more than likely a reprissal against the US attack, they damn well should provide replacements! 😡
so could we expect Ka-52 with advanced sonobuoy, MAD, multisensor, carrying switchblade n torpedo then ? 😮
I’m hoping that was supposed to be a joke or something. Try a naval Ka-60
I sold my Y.G. Su-27 for £50 on Amazon. Think the next cheapest was over £200, how generous am I?….ok, stupid…
