Wonderful stuff!! Is this available as a DVD?
Well .. don’t know, but why not ask the op of these aircraft, the VVF? Here is a link to the VVF website: http://www.vastgota-veteranflyg.se/ 🙂
yepp, he he … but the ‘one- o-five’ is not “staring” 😉
Was the Draken being worked on to try a make to air show circuit for 2006 or had they dropped that idea?
Actually, I don’t think SHF has anything to do with this Draken any longer. It is taken care of by Draken Team Karup. All systems etc are in running order but it is not airworthy. Perhaps any of our Danish friends could fill us in on the details…

The SHF TF-35 Draken, which used to be reg OY-SKA, has been grounded since 1996.
This is very intresting! Could this be the occasional run up done every second month or so…or is there a conection to this add?

Does the ex RAF aircraft still fly in Sweden?

SE-BKH, ex XK 884, is owned and operated by Flygexpo. It is based at Västerås/Hässlö but is currently parked at Eskilstuna/Kjula.
SE-BKH is painted as “Helge 87” – a Tp 83 Pembroke operated by the transport squadron of F 8 Wing at Barkarby in the early 1970s.
The J35A and SK35C doesn’t have those tail wheels, because they don’t have the longer and more powerful Model 66 afterburner. The longer tail also lowered the drag of the airplane increasing overall performance.
The last production J 35As – FV-nr 35066 to 35090 – did have the Model 66 afterburner – and tailweels 😉
Shame. This DC-7C should have been preserved in a museum. In the late 1968-69 it was used by ARCO (Bermuda) in the Biafra airlift as D-ABAC and VR-BCW.
ARCO (Bermuda) was a company conected to the famus Hank Warton. After been kicked out from the Biafra run Warton and ARCO’s DC-7s stood parked at Basle. When the Red Cross airlift to Biafra was closed down in the summer of 1969 former crews flying for Swedecross – many in fact earlier employed by ARCO – joined ARCO and ops were restarted. Bases were Basle and Stockholm/Bromma. Half a dozen flight were made to El Salvador and Honduras in conection to the soccer war that summer…
Ops continued until 1971 when Hank Warton decided to get out of Europe.

The Red AJS 37 T/O and land at Ängelholm AB. The other Viggens at Vidsel AB. All aircraft belong to 1. Sqn of F 10 Ängelholm, so does the musicians
Saab J 35-2 #35515!
It was delivered to Irvin-GQ at Liangenoir, Bridgend, in 2003. Here is a link to a picture of 35515, still in service with 2.Sqn. of F 10 in early 1988:

Thoose were the days… 😀
Thanx, J Boyle! Will try to get some more info there…
Regarding “S.R.A.F.070.” I can ad that this has been id as a BC-1A/AT-6, ex 40-2125. It was shipped to Sweden on M/S Minnesota from New York on 1.8.52. It is possible that become a Sk 16B/C in SwAF in 1953, there are a few un-id, or was parted out for spares.
The US reg prior to becoming “S.R.A.F.070.” is said to have been N51137.
Any more info on this a/c? Even pictures? I would be most greatfull…
32502: This was used mainly by Saab for ejection seat trials in conection with the development of the Draken and Viggen. This a/c did it last flight 11.6.81, TT399 hrs.
CCCP-70501: This An-2 ditched off the coast of Eastern Gotland on 27.5.87 (Just as Mattias Rust was flying in the oposite direction.) It was flown by a sole pilot who had t/o from Saldu in Latvia and wanted to defect. The Russians didn’t want to take care of the salvaged Colt so they sold it to the KÃ¥remo collection. It was in ca 1998 handed over to the Gotlands flygmuseum. TT 4211 hrs.
Centurion: 200 of these were bought in the late 50s by the Swedish Army and served until the early 90s. I belive a number of them were used on Gotland by the regiment P 18. This unit was disbanded a few years back.
Glad to be at help, Peter! 🙂
One is F-86D-36NA RDAF serial F-984, ex 51-5984, (del’d 27.7.58) used by ESK 726/723/728 and wfu on 31.3.66.
Three Danish F-86Ds were after been retiered sent to Kjevik in Norway and used for battle damage repair. These were F-500/51-8500, F-977/51-5977 and…F-984/51-5984!
The other one would probably be either F-500 or F-977…
