For once, we do not have to ‘wait for the report’
The lucky pilot posted today on Flyer Forum.
”Twas I, highly embarrased and incredibly lucky to be alive.
Flying above scattered (initially) cloud I (stupidly) convinced myself that we had just passed Ingleton and, heading NW, were flying towards lowering ground. In fact we had just passed Settle, and were heading towards Ingleborough, which we met at cruise speed, most definitely CFIT.
Stude with me had mobile phone which had excellent signal, but for that phone we would PROB90 have both died of exposure having survived the initial impact.
Since this is not the Studes forum I deserve all the slagging you care to throw at me, but I sure won’t make that mistake again.
My bag of luck is in tatters.”

I won’t be the one to say this is TOO low, but it is low……
A glider whose final glide seems to defy gravity- perhaps you need to have done a little gliding to get the full sweaty palm effect..

Perhaps he had a good book. 😎
Portrait of the forum at its squabbling worst 🙁
How can such a worthy and admirable project be the cause of rancour and mud-slinging ?
It is not a Mosquito, not pretending to be a Mosquito, but rather is a tribute, a homage to that much-missed aeroplane, and at the moment, in the flying stakes, is the best we have got.
The building of replicas and reproductions is a respected and respectable endeavour, and though they may not be to the taste of every enthusiast, they are widely admired by many others.
This is an amazing piece of design and manufacture, and the fact that a French team choose to spend 15 years working on a British design is all the more gratifying.
Spring is sprung, the sun is coming out, and so is the 558 collection hat.
With a strong sense of deja vu, the sum required this time is £350,00 by the end of May. You can’t help but wonder how long this ‘strategy’ will keep working..
Still, it would be great to see it at Abingdon in 7 weeks, as has been mooted.
Hi 195, and welcome,
I too flew Ventures with the cadets, and first soloed on ZA633 at Halton on Aug 15th 1981. It was a flying machine that did everything at 50 MPH! I still remember the crusty (once white ) leather gloves we had to wear, and the odd red tartan fabric that adorned the cockpit walls.
The dayglo letters were not standard garb , and looked a bit ‘bling’ to me !
Don’t forget to show us the finished artwork !
I imagine you mean this-
So he has lost his licence now? Harsh.
G’day Bill ! Welcome to the forum.
Very interesting to read of your trip ‘down memory lane’.
A reminder of the time when the UK really had an air force…
THIS is too low.
It’s bad.
9/11 x 50?
It’s bad.
9/11 x 50?
And if one were to decline the invite?
I dunno. Perhaps you’d get the bus ?
Microlight
Self Launching Motor Glider
Touring Motor Glider
Airship
Autogyro
Paramotor
All Helicopters
All powered fixed-wing aircraft
All these types are affected, and invited to comply with the restrictions.
Whoever heard of a paramotor with a transponder and a radio ? What planet are these people on ?
It may be an initiative to fill the skies with unmanned observation vehicles for the first time, and that really would be the thin end of the wedge.
So……….. The ‘Running, Jumping and Throwing Things Event’ last 2 weeks , but the airspace lockdown is 2 months. The Reason ?
To cover all the time that olympians and paralympians are in the Village and to prevent the confusion of switching it on and off. I am not making this up!
