Just checked BBC weather on the website, and it is saying SUNSHINE (no rain indicated) on BOTH days!
It was nice of them to bring it, but it’s a bit grubby.
Fiat G-46 over Chesham (11.40) heading east.
Thats always been my airshow maxim-
See Hurricane ? Don’t go.
I should say Sunday looks unlikely for arrival at DX, given the severe weather warning which applies to the whole of England.
Even if the are cleared for IFR (are they?) there are no approach aids. Nearest would be Stansted, or Luton not far away.
Glad to see it was not totally wiped out. I had ideas to pop over on Sunday, but the weather seemed so foul, there was no point.
Nice air/air of OBX- from another Tiger? One of the worst machines to photograph from, without knackering your back.
Sorry Mark,
Didn’t realise that your link actually DID contain CGI Lancs, which obviously is relevant to the thread.
The weather is so foul here at present, we get a little crabby!
1968. Aged 4, standing at the back window of the house with my father as a swelling roar fills the air, and three Mosquitos sweep overhead, on a wide circuit of Bovingdon. They were filming ‘Mosquito Squadron’.
‘ You’ll never see that sight again!’ he said. He was right.
Well, that was two minutes of my time wasted.
Spurious links. Not necessarily always hilarious.
Oddly enough, I too have bought that camera today (£429 ) and could have bought the Jessops ‘bumper bundle’ which included a Tamron lens. I had a go, and it was DREADFUL, very dark, hunting constantly. The salesman was not allowed to say it was hopeless, but he knew it was, and to his credit, gently tried to put me off.
It hurts to say it, but I think one has to buy the best lens you can ( or even can’t) afford.
Regarding the HP42, I think I read that the driving force was the late Mike Russell ( Russavia at Duxford et al) .
Since his sad demise, the project seems to have gone on hold. But if anyone can come up with FOUR new Jupiter engines…………
Was it a civvy one, or one of the mystery grey ones from Northolt?
Actually, it can’t be one of them, because they don’t exist. And even if they did, you certainly would not have seen one. Or all the strange aerials and antennas which they don’t have.
You have said too much already. Watch out for Omegas with blacked out windows parked outside your house.
SE5 Fan, You are subject to a memory malfunction.
‘DN’ pranged at Coventry in Feb 78, and completed restoration (ie flew again) in the USA in 1987. Can’t think what you might have seen at North Weald, maybe a Pilatus P2, or a Spit in PR colours??
I recall she used to post on General Discussion as ‘Madge’- don’t think she’s been on for a while.
Business flying in the UK is makes very little sense for most commercial operations, as opposed to the USA, where lower costs and greater distances combine to make the aeroplane a useful tool.
So, in the very small and specialised realm of UK business aviation how many oddballs are actually going to be inspired to buy a Tucano? You could count them on the fingers of one foot.
I doubt that the Tucanos operated on the UK civil register will ever even approach the number of P51’s flown here, and that is only seven!
