Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him
The evil that men do lives after them
The good is oft interred with their bones.
A happy outcome, thankfully. Probably a bit of a ‘bad hair’ day.
I bet a new canopy costs a bob or two
I am curious to know how MK12 got hold of Peter Arnold’s postcard. I thought their wives didn’t speak to each other, or has there been some sort of reconcilliation ?
‘ I think that the VTTS people should remove their junk from Bruntingthorpe as it does not have the remotest chance of ever getting in the air.’
Well, it worked before.
Whichever way you look at it, this forum is a fantastic resourse, with bang-up-to date contributions from people with access to inside information and images. Individual contributors will come and go, but no one person, or even group of people is more important than the broader entity.
Not surprisingly, some members or ex-members flatter themselves that the whole thing has gone downhill since they withdrew their input, but in reality this is not the case, and the board enjoys the input of new members with their own valuable contributions.
But having said all of that, it is still just an internet forum, and displays the antagonism and slight disfunction amongst a proportion of its members that you will find on just about EVERY forum and discusssion group on the internet. Some individuals just love to bicker and squabble, and others rather enjoy reading all agro. But almost always, it is a matter of choice to adopt this mode of behaviour, or alternatively to contribute with courtesy and good humour, as by far the majority of members choose to.
£50 is bl##dy outrageous! As long as these people get away with it, it will go on and on. It sounds as though the airport operators have no interest in fostering light aviation at Newcastle, so really the flight training organisation has set up in the wrong place.
Martii,
I admit it ‘looks’ quite big, but maybe you are just quite small. I can swing a Tiger Moth, and a Ripon can’t be much different.
The Dak was meant to display at Hyde Heath (Great Missenden) fete, but scrubbed due to grotty viz in Lincs, apparently. Had to watch the dog show instead.
Its a Cessna 172 (because it always is)
Were you shooting touch ‘n’ goes? Love that climb out.
I was actually thinking of the ‘other’ Sandtoft relic, the even-more knackered ex-‘Hanover Street’, ex-Blackbushe, ex-Coventry (T)B-25.
There was a mention a little while ago that it was leaving these shores, and that might actually have happened now.
One hears that fuel at Aberdeen is now £1.50 per litre (inc) Can anyone confirm?
In the Netherlands( Lelystadt) they are apparently up to £1.60.
Anyone for gliding?
I can hardly believe that an extra two inches makes much difference to anyone.
Well, at least the pilot can take comfort in the fact that he got ‘the double’.
According to the very well-balanced, factual news account, he ‘plunged’ AND ‘plummeted’. Proper Job.
Booker 1976, with all the residents flying, and there were loads in those days. Two Spits, Fiat G46, two Rapides, Yak 11, Aces High film replicas, Peter Phillips in the BA-4, and more. The commentator announced he had a surprise, and behold, Don Bullock cames scorching over the M.40 in the all-silver B17.
The ‘toy’ SE5’s were also used in a wallpaper paste commercial,
for which they were covered in (guess what) wallpaper.
There was a bit of a scaling ****-up on the cowling of the ‘minis’ , hence the curious pugnacious outlook, which also cost them dear in performance in speed and climb, as only the prop-tips stuck out beyond the massive protruberance.
