Really good video, very well put together, and lots of imaginative footage, including a drone (?) and helicopter.
That strip looks bit undulating, not very flattering for smooth arrivals, but they all managed very well.
Tried a little clean-up here. This may well be my ‘local’, Bovingdon, as certainly the unit was there for some time in 1968.
The cameraman has been on at least three BoB film locations , maybe on more than one occasion, so is more than a casual gawper.
I wonder if he had some more formal connection with the filming. Great to see it, anyway.
Hmmmmm…………Most peculiar.
Well spotted/remembered.
Transall overhead Bovingdon maybe 4000 feet, heading in Luton direction. 10.00 am
Not heard those Tyne engines in a loooong time……….
Incidents like this are of course very upsetting for individuals involved, when ones endeavours are suddenly in the public domain, for better or for worse, and I do agree that any outside comment or reporting should be both sensitive and respectful, and any departure from known facts is a perilous path to follow, and usually ends badly.
My description of the short flight was a direct reference to a statement made by the owner/pilot on his facebook page, which includes the following comment ”Thanks Anne very disappointed, would not have been a problem if the engine had kept going, up until then everything was fine. Now need to find out why it stopped.” 25th Sept 19.01 hours .
Nice one ! Yak 52 s are a blast, a real ‘poor man’s warbird’, though not so poor actually at a litre of avgas per minute.
The trouble is, they spoil you for anything else, and something like a PA28 feels like flying a rice pudding in comparison !
Try out a Nanchang CJ-6 while you are at it, lovely handling, and more modest fuel burn.
Hurricane B/W undersides over Amersham heading SW two mins ago
It is on the ground at W Waltham now, for filming of a movie on the Polish RAF pilots, filming Wed, Thur and Sat.
Tents everywhere, but just one ‘real’ Hurricane at present.
Holy Cr@p !
That looks like about 400 feet Even Rob Davies would have a job exiting at that height.
That was horribly close.
I know what you mean, but you could say it has been an extraordinarily good year for Duxford.
An in- flight break up at high speead/low level , a low level engine failure, and a mid-air collision, and yet all the pilots were back having tea in the Pliot’s Enclosure at the end of the display.
Fingers crossed for a super-safe Sunday !
This might be it. Its a bit hard to read the serial, looks like 434

Here is one many will remember with affection. David was inspired by machines, including steam locos.
Those are FAB photos, high res, loads of detail, 6×7 negs, and it shows. Thanks again for making them public.

Were the wheels off a King Air or something ? Spencer Flack operated light exec aircraft, I think.
Flight One were THE Twin Pin operaters in the UK, doing aerial survey work all over Europe. They were at Staverton, but moved to Shobdon in the mid eighties, and took about 4 Twin Pins up there, though operated only two I think.
G-AYFA was scrapped, though the cockpit lives on, one went to East Fortune. One went to Air Atlantique.
Twin Pin prospects are strongest in Australia , right now.
This update posted just yesterday!
” Twin Pioneer Close to Flying Down Under
by Mark Booth/Phil Buckley and photos by Phil Buckley
We thought our readers might enjoy a restoration update on the Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer at Wedderburn Airfield near Sydney, Australia that we reported on back in December, 2016 (see HERE). The rare Short Take Off and Landing (STOL) transport will soon become the only flying example of the type in the world.
This particular ‘Twin Pin’ rolled off Scottish Aviation Ltd’s assembly line at Prestwick, near Glasgow, Scotland in 1962 as construction number 586, the penultimate example from a production run of 87 airframes. The Royal Malaysian Air Force accepted her as FM1066 on May 28th, 1962, and she continued to serve with them for the next decade. She then went through several civil operators until she ended up at Wedderburn with Richard Thompson.”
