”Saab Safir in a fairly neglected state. This aircraft has been left outside for 20yrs and it shows. Having said that it has no obvious damage and I couldn”t see any corrosion to the airframe. The wings were removed and stored indoors so they should be very good. Engine is a Lycoming 0-435 6cyl 190hp. There is a spare crated engine for sale seperately.
I am going to get some photos taken this week and upload them as well as a video. Google the reg and there are a few photos of it on the net.

You could still squeeze a B25 on the main runway, but the apron is mainly lost now, and the control tower like a small island surrounded by a huge embankment. Behind is The Mount prison.

The foreground feature is a Star Wars film set (photo taken 2 weeks ago) , for a 6 part story, TV release maybe .

With no other contacts in the UK he was lucky to be staying in a hotel with a FOD member, whom we had met on Saturday, and he brought him in as a guest.

As I had obtained most of the pictures I wanted on Saturday and I noticed that my equipment was bigger than his, pause for titter, and with the special relation ship and lend lease in mind we swapped lenses. I wanted him to go back with the best pictures possible when reporting on this event.

What a nice gesture. Our American friends will always be especially welcome in East Anglia.

All 6 BBMF fighter lobbed into White Waltham at 17.30, unable to quite reach Northolt, where they were heading, due to thick weather to the west of London.

They hoped to get away before dark, but no luck, so are hangared tonight, and may get off tomorrow.
