By no means. On information and knowledge, this forum is without equal. The subjects we have covered is massive, and represents an incredible resource.
If you are interested in historic aircraft in the UK, THIS is the place.

But on matters of opinion this forum ( like most others) is less impressive, and sentiments often get personal. There will always be some of that, but I think a lot of people are thankfully wise enough not to get caught up in the ‘shouty’ issues which experience shows us generally get nowhere. I am reminded of the embarrassing spat between two senior members here.

I suppose we have also to acknowledge that many people quite enjoy the occasional punch-up, and it is sometimes entertaining reading, at least for a little while 🙂

Perhaps you could sleep on it? You’ll probably feel different in the morning, after the heat of the moment.

I am not sure in the merit of ‘discussing’ this, as though dialogue here might lead us to any new meaningful understanding.

I am also weary of the (lazy) obsession of our media to use present anniversaries as a meaningful peg upon which to hang our daily news feed. It so happens, by pure chance that the earth has traveled round the sun 70 times, and because, again by chance, we happen to have 10 digits (fingers and thumbs) every tenth year is deemed significant, though logically it is of no significance over any other date.

The human toll at Dresden was appalling beyond comprehension, as were many other raids, as was the whole conflict.

There surely come a time when ongoing wallowing in the miseries of the past is literally without point, it is not as though one can escalate ones sympathy or empathy to ever greater insight. To go down that road, we would end up have the ‘Ten Minute Silence’ on Armistice Day, because the two minutes never gave us a chance to really engage with the issues.

Is it true there is a coin slot in the back-cockpit and you have to put in two pound coins every second or else the engine stops ? :rolleyes:

MV told me himself that there were very significant gaps in the technical data that was required. It sounds as though things have moved forward since then.

Great to hear from you, and welcome to the forum.

This is very opportune, as just last week someone was asking how the CASA’s left Bovingdon, ie by air or truck. Take a look at the Duxford thread and you will see one of them has just turned up at Duxford.

I live in Chesham under the Bovingdon circuit, and am v interested in all the film activity which went on there. Have you any photos from the time?
