Awesome photo. Original Su-37 + Su-30 + two Su-26s.
Nice! The original Su-37 was awesome!
Main problem I see in respect of an F-1M buy is Argentinas international creditors, would they not try and seize the airframes as they leave Spain?
Nice!
You tried to make it look like Chinese were behind Apple’s success. Sorry, nope.
The Chinese manufacturing setup allowed Apple to be as successful as the have been in terms of profitability. Not to mention their market volume.
This means nothing. Which country has more material wealth? Which country has lower poverty rate? Which country has better education? Which country’s people are happier? Those are important.
I don’t think so, but hope you are right.
I think Argentina needs to maintain fast-jet capability.
I think Argentina needs to maintain fast-jet capability, but just cannot afford it right now. The F1’s will be a great stop-gap measure to preserve this capability and ensure marginal air defense capability around the capital and other areas of the nation. Things could be different in 10-15 years and the FAA might be in a better position to acquire more modern military aircraft, not just fighters.
I would put a U.S. pilot, in a Super Hornet, up against any pilot in any MiG/Mirage/Sukhoi, from any nation any day of the week.
Thanks. We’ll see about Lenovo beating Apple down the road, but that is for another thread. The U.S. auto market is saturated. I’ll bet if a Chinese company could produce a Hyundai-like vehicle with the reliability and the warranty, they’d sell. From what I understand, Chinese gear has a reputation for being cheaply-made. To a certain extent, that is true. There is some cheap Chinese crap out there, but that can be said for brands from all nations. They [the Chinese] need to catch on and prove themselves in the market for high-end military equipment. The products for “just good enough” type usages will still be very open for Chinese military products for the foreseeable future. Don’t forget the Chinese economy will surpass the U.S.’ economy as the world’s biggest in around 2020.
That doesn’t matter. Noone gives damn about Chinese “high-tech”. Not in Europe, anyway. China is still unable to sell a decent sedan or a medical ultrasound here, let alone a helicopter or a fighter aircraft. This will not have changed anytime soon.
Not to be too late to the party, and I cannot speak for Europe, but in the U.S., most consumer goods [a very high most] are made in China. I am not also trying to bolster Chinese or anyone’s national pride, but they can meet demand at the lowest price. This is what enabled Apple to change the whole idea of a cellphone with the iPhone and lead the world in consumer electronics. Like the iPhone or not, it is a quality product and it is made in China. Be nervous when Foxconn starts making 4.5 / 5th gen fighters.
Back to the thread.
I think it is like many of the posters on this thread have already stated, the cost is too high and the need may not be there. The markets for second-hand 4th generation jets will be viable for the foreseeable future. Even if the for types for sale are not the best of what’s around, the capability is still valid.
Is that a laden or an unladen Su-24?
Freejob? Seriously?
The FAA would also be a good customer for the A-29, if the Pampa numbers are not sufficient enough.
Has the VPAAF ever operated the MiG-23? I can’t find any source that indicates so.
no, Vietnam War ended in mid-1975
Syria received its first MiG-23s in 1973
Just because the Syrians received their MiG-23’s in ’73, doesn’t mean they would be combat ready at that same time. It would take a good six months to stand-up with the new type.
