That’s a great clip – still see it sometimes on Sky (Now there’s product placement:D). I think it’s because they can’t endorse brands – when a Virgin aircraft had an emergency landing at LHR on Airport on the BBC, logos on the engine cowlings were also blurred out.
Therefore dont be surprised when comparitively new aircraft get broken up well before you expect, and also dont be surprised to see Tristars and DC10s flying for many more years.
I won’t quote the whole thing but interesting read – thanks for sharing!
The second shot, the BA 777 is so beautiful 🙂
I think the debate’s over until the poll is published?
Got to love your edit reason Phil, ‘grammer’? Don’t you mean ‘grammar?’ 😉 LOL, just joking mate! :D.
If olny I cuold splel 😉
Of course I did, I think i’ve seen LSAA and LSAB enough times…
😀 You don’t say !! 😀
Thanks Phil and Tom! That Aeroflot was and is an Ilyushlin IL-96 (RA-96010)
Cheers Ben – Russian types aren’t a speciality I’m afraid 😀
I agree, however GO was taken over by easyJet and its (GO) parent was a rich airline indeed 🙂
By the time EZY took-over GO, GO had been sold out to a private equity company, and hadn’t been part of BA for a while.
Is that an Illyushin 86 or 96? (Or something different altogether?)
Nice photos in spite of the poor conditions 🙂
Oh, Grey Area, photos – and you a mod too! 😀
Seriously nice photo of the Etihad tail though!
In the first pic it looks like they’ve covered the engine in parcel tape! The new livery is fresh and looks great!
I like when airlines get taken over/merged, yet both entities keep their brands. For instance, LH took over CX and yet CX are still based in ZRH and retain their colours. In the long run, I think this will be good for that airline, seeing as their previous brand, SwissAir, went by the wayside, as well. I’m hoping LH buys Olympic and retains that brand and base, as well. Very wishful thinking on my part, however.
Cathay Pacific based in Zurich?!?
You must mean LX 😉
Hey – wait till they get all the aircraft they’ve ordered – then the whole of Europe will be swamped!!
Nice – they’re looking good.
None of the Jet2 757’s have been delivered to Jet2 as far as I know.
I take it you mean G-LSAC & G-LSAD not -AA & -AB!
