The lighting is great, and first night shot looks like its a reflection off a rippling pond 🙂
Like Paul, I have never collected registrations, and I don’t think I’m going to start – ’tis not my thing. I’m too busy pressing shutter buttons for a start.
What I do find though is that I have begun to recognise registrations having seen some aircraft over and over again, especially at LHR. Taking loads of pictures and looking at the reg numbers in the image, mostly for when I need to type them in for a jp.net upload, you do start to build up a little knowledge, and you know whether or not youve seen the aircraft before, but that is as far as I take it.
73G is an awful idea as they just dont fit into the current fleet.
bmibaby have the 737s becuase many of them (if not all of them) were transferred from the bmi mainline fleet, and so it saved baby a lot of hassle and money in trying to source aircraft from outside the bmi group
Wow. beautiful shots Manc! Where did you go to get these shots? I shall have to visit the spot when i next go! 🙂
and I had been able to enjoy several of these in the warmth of a 32c heat:-
mmmm, I could really do with one of those – it looks so good!

2. Powered wheels
Putting an electric motor in each wheel that is powered by the APU would save much fuel while taxing and maybe less ground crew for stuff like backing up without thrust reversers and shouldn’t weigh that much more
A variation on that idea is actually close to reality, and trials have been carried out on an Air Canada 767. Its called the Wheeltug and currently is an electric motor sitting on the nosegear. It is powered by the APU, and the production version is to be mounted in the wheel hub. It can take the aircraft to the runway without its main engines being on.
