hey guys
great shots coming from all corners!
Ive recently invested in Gary Summons Gatwick Pro scenery, updating from Uk2000 Gatwick from way back in 2001.
here’s the shots from the end of a MON 752 flight that i did into the airport, and a little tour of the scenery included as a bonus!
its interesting to compare the old lgw scenery to the new one – scenery design has come one hell of a way. well done to Gary!
ignore the fact that whilst im in a 757, the cockpit panel is for a 737NG – i like it too much. :p

thanks
it may be, as you said, something to do with the graphics card. the motherboard, being an ‘SLI’ (i.e. designed to take two graphics cards) may not like the single x700 card that you have.
its annoying that your old graphics card (the 9600) is an ‘AGP’ card – if it was PCI-Express (which your new card is, and which your new motherboard accepts) then you could test your old card on your new motherboard. that would have been the solution – or atleast it would have highlighted the problem.
i would suggest looking into a new graphics card but be careful on your choice, ensuring that the new card likes your new motherboard and vice versa – look on the net (try computer hardware forums) to see which cards are known to work well with your ‘MSI KN8 neo 4 sli’ board, and cards which are not. but do your research to avoid making an expensive mistake.
on top of that, i don’t think that your hard drive is the problem – being the size that it is (250gb) it suggests that its a fairly new drive (model), and most certainly should not have problems running FS.
hope that helps 🙂
stunning set of photos. you’re very lucky to get such access. i’m jealous!hehehe 😀

What kind of VGA cards and other hardware infrastructure do you have that gives you such brilliant almost real-life type pix? Care to share with us not-so informed mortals?
Thanks in advance.

I have an ‘AMD Athlon XP 3000+’ processor giving 2.1 GHz. I am also using a Geforce 6 6600GT graphics card, and 1 GB RAM.
the computer that i have is, by todays standards, quite old, and newer computers are much more powerful.

just thought i’d drop by bearing some little gifts.
This is a flight from Boston – Heathrow American Airlines 777 that i did a short while ago.
the hot, humid weather that we have right now means that i can’t do much flight sim at all because my room ends up getting unbearably hot. damn weather! 😡

thanks 😀

thanks for the comments guys! 🙂
Very nice pics, would love to know the directions to that field under 09L where the planes where approaching over.
I’ve seen this at nearly every big airport i’ve been to. I was on a Lufthansa A300 a few years ago when it happened to us, you could tell because I heard the big bump when the gear was retracted, we had all flaps up by this time and were quite high up, about 6000ft. This is all done for cooling the breaks down after all the heat during the day and the friction done when taxing and taking off.
Nick 🙂
thanks for the info Nick!
the field (we actually stood by the side of the road – didnt go onto the field) sits bythe A3044. if you are in a car come along it in the direction of Longford. just before the lights for 9L, there will be (if 9L is in use) a number of cars parked by the side of the road – fellow spotters. park with them, and either stand on the pavement or venture into the field.
if you are on foot, and coming along the northern perimeter road heading towards the 9L end, walk along the perimeter road, past all the ‘business’ and staff car parks on your left and right, past construction works on your right, and as the road begins to bend around there will eventually be a set of traffic lights. near the traffic lights you’ll see a bridge to your right that crosses some sort of water course with a load of nets over it – something to do with T5 i think. the bridge will have a sign up saying ‘T5 personnel only’. ha. be naughty and take no notice (the bridge is totally open anyway and really doesnt seem to be anything to do with t5 and certainly doesnt seem to warrant a sign saying that its for t5 personnel only), and cross it. that will bring you out onto a roundabout. turn left, cross the A3044 and walk along the pavement until u come to the 9L approach lights and find a spot.
i hope that helps
Stunning shots! 🙂
I got a shot of G-VBIGs underside at the airport the day before u took her. (lame promotion of my thread there 😉 )
Odd question, but how many bottles of water/drink did you get through whilst you were there?
Another warning:
Industrial Action on the South West Trains line will basically cancel trains to Farnborough from July 21st on.
that action has now been called off. travel on the Friday and Saturday on the trains should be without problems
the guy kneeling by the right engine of this 777 looks like he’s crying, lol

thats all folks! 🙂
part two:
from ‘Hilton Hill’:

during the infamous trek to the north east corner. notice the holes towards the bottom of the glass wall where the airbridges will be installed. the satelite concourse already has some of its airbridge walkways installed
9L arrivals:

just one shot of Concorde
three more on their way
Im off to Heathrow this week, but easterly winds mean that rwys 09l/r will be in use. is that right?
i dont know much about viewing when it comes to these rwys (none at all in fact). ive looked on spotterswiki, and it lists a couple of suitable spots, but other than that, i have nothing else.
anyone care to give some helpful hints and directions to locations for 09 photography? i dont have a car and so can only use buses, taxis
help would be great. 🙂
Also, which airport is near Wimbledon, if any?
the a/c that you hear going over wimbledon will most certainly be traffic to/from Heathrow. thats the nearest major airport to Wimbledon
