It definately is. Although, and here’s the bad news, you need 12Gb of disk space 😮 , and the program is installed from DVDs, so you need a DVD player in your electirical compooter machine thing. 🙂

FS Global – Special Edition. without a doubt. the hills are alive…no more boring, flat terrain. mountains look like mountains and not mounds. Dover gets its cliffs, Everest regains its title of tallest mountain; valleys that you can actually fly through; Innsbruck becomes a real challenge, and Lukla (Nepal) becomes really hard to fly into.

it just gives flight sim real elevation data. really good imo.

That’s all well and good but Ryanair do issue full paper boarding passes.

thats really interesting. i didn’t know that. odd for Ryanair to have boarding passes when they are supposed to watch their costs like eagles and cut as many expensive things out of their operation as is possible.

    How about painting this type?

Engine damage caused by a heron hit very close to V1!

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v701/hughjarse/DSCF0085.jpg

did the heron make that large white mess on the cone?

seriously now, to raise another question, whats the pipe sticking out of the top of the engine casing in that picture for?

I would have thought that the real reason for free seating, which in other words is basically ‘no paper boarding passes’ (which is the key) is saving costs.

Remember that this is what the low cost airlines love to do – save costs. So, they get rid of paper boarding passes, and this saves costs in producing them, and distributing them. ok, you may say to that ‘how expensive can printing a small sheet of paper be?’ On its own, not very expensive at all, but when you are printing and distributing 30,000,000 of them a year, you’ll see that it can get quite expensive.

The airline will turn around the idea of reducing costs through no paper boarding passes by saying to their passengers that we have no paper boarding passes ‘to save time during the boarding process – you choose your seats’ – the passengers will be able relate to time-saving and less hassle – not ‘airline cost savings’.

customers will also usually be happier with free seating, because they believe that they’ll be able to choose their seats – not have the check in staff telling you where you’ll sit – more freedom and less restriction sort of thing.

so really, the airline knows that the free seating idea wouldn’t speed up the process at all – but they do know that they could save costs by not producing paper boarding passes, and via that, not allocating seats.

    thats what i believe anyway.

    Hi,

Just thought I would use this thread rather than start up another. When I post my screenshots on here they are small images how can i make them big? I am using Photobucket to store my shots by the way.

do you save them (and upload them onto photobucket) as bmps? the file sizes of bmps are far far too large for photobucket – so photobucket resizes them to get them under the image upload size limit.

if you do upload them as bmps, save the images as jpegs (preferably using something other than MS Paint becuase the quality of what you get is abmissmal). Use Photoshop or Paintshop perhaps. using image editing software, like the two mentioned, resize the images (to 800×600) so that we can see them clearly. save them as good quality jpegs, and then upload them to photobucket, and hopefully voila.

also, check the album settings on photobucket making sure that the max upload size is 512kb, not 256kb. if the image file size is over 512kb, photobucket will automatically resize them.

    hope that helps

How could anyone man or bird see the spiral once the engine has been run up.
    Unless they have strobe vision!

Well, I guess if you can’t see it – you know its spinning.

    did another multiplayer session yesterday,
    *working *really* hard at university*….

i don’t think the lancaster paint is particularly fantastic, but hey, it was fun. gliding at 10000ft is so relaxing. no throttle to mess around with, no flaps, no bells or whistles screaming at you, no electronic glass cockpit to mess with…

    enjoy

I totally agree, but surely MS could manufacture FS06 to run on a crappy windows ME system – such as the one I got.

yes, they must surely do that. they will do that in order to attract the largest possible audiences, therefore making more money. they can’t and won’t aim one of the best selling computer games in history at purely those with the latest hardware.

Do they really need that on Atlantic?

There is a rather small ETOPS 120 blind spot in the middle of Atlantic. Do charters bother with ETOPS 180, or just use ETOPS 120 and fly round (not a big detour)?

I would think that if there is any blind spot on the route that requires ETOPS-180, then surely yes, they would require it (at every point along the flight plan, the aircraft must be within the ETOPS (so at the ETOPS-180 point, they must have ETOPS-180) certification for diversion to an airport) – why take any detour when they could just get certified for ETOPS-180 – and then reduce costs, and be seen to be a ‘safety conscious’ airline when they do get ETOPS-180. the two types have ETOPS-180 certification anyway, so why not get certification for Operational approval?

the coursework actually specifies flights from the UK to the Carribean, so in this case, ETOPS-180 would be needed.

    thanks for your help guys
